Remarks
MDI Murshidabad is the sister branch of MDI Gurgaon so it shares a similar quality of faculty and pedagogy which makes it one of the best-growing B-schools. The batch size is around 140 students which comes under the category of "small" which I think is an advantage as each student is groomed better and competition during the placements is also low. Even though the college has been established in 2016, it has a vast alumni network as it shares the brand image of MDI. Admission process: It accepts CAT scores as the 1st step of applying. After having an above-average score in CAT one can apply for MDIM. The 1st step after applying is the group discussion with around 8-10 students. After GD, every student has to go through a personal interview which is conducted by 2 panelists. Each phase has some weightage for final selection so that every student gets a fair chance.
Course Curriculum Overview
MDI Murshidabad has a more application-based approach while course completion, where it follows case studies of Harvard business school. it also conducts seminars addressed by people in the corporate industry who share their valuable experience with the students which helps them to get prepared for the corporate world. The course has a similar syllabus for all the 4 specializations that it offers (Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, and Operations). in the 2nd year every student is asked to choose their elective subjects which they want to pursue as their specialization. here a student can pick a combination of specializations which can be considered as major and minor. Faculty - One of the advantages that MDIM has is that it has a good base of faculties. It also brings in guest faculty from IIM's too.
Internships Opportunities
Selection for Internships starts from the 2nd trimester i.e November and all students get placed till march. Every student does an internship for 2-3 months as required and students who opt out of internships get research papers from the college faculty members. The average stipend for an internship is 57K with the highest stipend of 1.8L
Placement Experience
Placements: 1st talking about the summer internship, every student gets placed during the summer internship and some students opt out and find their own internship too. It offers pretty decently as far as a stipend for the internship is considered. Final placements are pretty good as 100% of students get placed and it starts in the month of December and goes on until march till all students get placed. The highest package went upt 21L and the average salary is 10.5L
Fees and Financial Aid
Program fees for the batch 2020-22 were 10.5 L including lodging and food. This is great in terms of ROI. As the average salary is at 10.5 L considering the latest published report. This one of the advantages of MDIM and it is one of the biggest reasons students pursue MDIM. Loan: MDIM is counted under the premium B-school by SBI and it offers a "scholar loan" which has an interest rate less than the normal interest rate of an education loan and there is no collateral needed.
Campus Life
MDIM has many clubs and committees which keep students engaged in extracurricular activities. It has a vast collection of Indian and foreign authors for business books and it also has a Bloomberg terminal for access to data related to financial market and securities. As I am from the batch of 2020-22 I cannot comment on the amenities provided in the college as I have not been physically there.
Interview Experience
I personally faced a GD with 8 other students where the topic was " Making CSR mandatory in India ". After GD there is personal interview for all students. And there is weigtage for all sections (CAT score, academics, GD, personal interview). This gives a fair chance to all candidates even one does not do well in onee section.
