Remarks

My school mentor suggested this college because the college is better than the other available options. I had talked to the students of the college and they told me to choose the college as the compassing rate was very good and that's true too. The admission process was simple though. I have opted from the WBJEE counseling portal and all the admission procedure was completed by them. It was June 2018 when I took admission. This college has a good faculty strength. The campus area is quite big compared to the urban competitors. Overall experience really good and this is one of the best private engineering colleges in Wes Bengal. I have also searched in Collegedunia and Shiksha blogs. Those blogs have quite a positive review about the college. So I choose the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I decided to take a biology-related stream while studying in 11th. So I searched for the related courses and I found the B. Tech on Biotechnology. This is technically an engineering course where you have to learn from basic engineering to advanced coding. And for this particular stream, you have to learn core advanced biology subjects like genetics, Bioinformatics, and Recombinant DNA Technology. This is quite exciting to learn so much in just one program. No other biology-related program has this kind of opportunity. And I told that the faculty strength is very good. We have 21 faculties in our department where the number of students is approx 130. This is a very good faculty-student ratio. Besides, the faculties are extremely qualified. Most of them have one or more PhD. A very few of them is pursuing a PhD where all have passed Masters in their respective field. This program is a semester system. You have to take a final exam after the end of every semester.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college arranges internship and training programs for students. The programs are mainly off-campus but the college does all the work of arrangement. Companies and institutes take students to work in their lab as research and development assistant. Most of these programs are unpaid while some companies pay between 10000-15000 per month.

Placement Experience

5

Campus placement is good. I have discussed previously the packages that it is depending on how good are you. From 6th sem onwards students are eligible to take part in the campus placement program. There are companies like TCS, Cognizant that hire students from the early stages. Then there are core companies like Biocon, Dr. Reddy's Lab, Nestle, Omics that hire students to the R&D sector. The campus placement rate is over 90%. The average package is 6-7 lacs per annum. Some students manage to get a package of 15 lacs or even more. I am planning to place in a core company after completion of my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are structured by the Govt. of West Bengal. So it is very less likely to hike in the fee structure. I think the structure is the same for a very long time. You have to pay the tuition fees of every semester at the start of the semester and that is all. Total fees are approx three lacs twenty thousand for the four years. West Bengal Govt. provides a scholarship of five thousand per month to eligible candidates. The campus jobs are quite impressive. Surely not the level of IITs but it's okay. You can expect an average of 6-7 lacs package and if you are good enough you can even hit a 15 lacs package.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is the best thing about this college. Life is a perfect balance between fun and learning. There are many clubs like photography club, music club, etc. They are there to give you the just perfect experience of your college life. The annual cricket and football tournament is there along with the Tech Fest.

Other Applied Colleges

Heritage Institute of Technology | B. Tech in Biotechnology

Haldia Institute of Technology has better faculty support and the institute is closer to my home.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin

7th semester is when the students get to sit for placements. I am not sure about the total no of companies visited but I am aware of the name of few companies like IBM Infosys Wipro Capsitech Tech Mahindra cognizant etc . Mostly the girls are 100 percent placed cause there is diversity hiring. Mass recruiters is what visit our campus mostly.. I personally would look for a job after graduation highest package offered displayed by college is 75 lpa but I don't think so it is real. Maybe someone had worked hard and got placed off campus. On campus highest isbi guess 12-14 lpa

Course Curriculum Overview:

- I choose Data Science as it is new to my college when comparing with the other branches. The curriculum is just okay it is not per industry standards but if students deep drives in each aspects then they are likely to crack GATE exams. - The whole curriculum needs and improvement from the very 1st Year and removal of irrelevant subjects like Discrete Mathematics, Electonics, Biology for IT branches are required. - Semester exams are conducted every 6 months and CTs are conducted every 2 months
