Shubham Shet's Review On Goa College Of Engineering - [GEC], Ponda

I took the state entrance exam GCET. I scored 56 (PM). I choose the course in this college because it is only course in the state. Secondly it is a Government institutions.

The course is best in the state with advance teaching technology to offer with best teaching staff. The course offers focus on practical experience and involves mainly with teaching in advance technology in the field. The course offers various practical training along with various field visits. Practical exams are given high preference.

College allows internship which is must after each semesters after first year. The internship period is of 25 days which is allowed for all students till they rejoin their course after each semesters.

Placement is good. With highest packages from 5-6 lakhs per annum. If you have an overall first class at end of 6th semester you are qualified for campus recruitment. Placement from various companies like Infosys, JSW, Godrej, Vedanta, Persistent etc.

Our college is filled with many technical and cultural activities. With each branch having their own sets of event along with inter branch events and sports functions as well. Starting from 7 branch events which are inauguration events and then in month of February the college cultural event Happenings to major technical event held in month of March.

Fee expenditure are least compared to other colleges in the state. From INR14000-16000 as semester fees and INR 2000-2500 as exam fees. These are gradually reduced in preceding semesters with INR10000-13000 in final semester. Whereas in other colleges it is about INR40000-70000 which is in all colleges rather than ours.

No I don't have idea about this but . There are various scholarship which can be availed but I didnt availed any scholar ship as I was not so bright students one thing. I didn't get it why SC, ST and other backward classes are getting scholarship even though they are rich and I needed the scholarship and I filled also but I didn't get it.

Student ratio is almost equal. There are various workshop held in the year from programming to robotics. With various activities held during various important days like vanomatsav to national days. NSS activities in various planting trees activities to keeping city clean.

Hostels are good with quality mess food. Hostels are based on 3 person sharing bases in first 3 years of college and private room in final year of the college. Food is mainly of simply home goan cuisine. With fish severed in lunch and dinner and chicken plate available on ever Wednesdays. Also veg thali is available.

Every engico (college student studying in GEC) is very helpful to each other. During exams all the senior will help you in whatever needs you'll have in study matters.

The exams are conducted in well manner with enough time to study for each paper since you get at least 3 days holidays for each paper. Also there are two internal test with one optional for every semester. The semesters are held in month of June and December. With practical and orals before the final written exams.

All the teaching staff are well qualified from IIT institutions. With practical experience from field. Some also having research experience over 30years. Faculties have also experience in teaching field for 5 years now. Faculties also give their experience teaching to their students in thier free time which is a must for future engineers.
