My Honest Review

I am passionate about studying English literature.So after completing my 2 years D.El.Ed, I tried in different colleges for English Honours. Choudwar College was my second preference and I got selected. Our English department has a lack of faculties honestly but I can manage. Well the bad thing about college is indisciplined boys who try to play oversmart sometimes.Otherwise our college is pretty decent. I got the admission in July 2019.This is a government college so the admission process takes quite some time but the staffs are so helping. My first preference was Indira Gandhi Women's College,Cuttack. But in the first phase merit list I got rejected by I.G.W.C. so got admission in Choudwar College.I must say I kinda enjoy the system and classes here. Well I had searched the official SAMS Website before applying to this college.

I chose English because I am aspiring to become a Government English Teacher and I want to gather as much knowledge as possible before applying for the job. There is a lack of faculties in our college not only in our English Department but almost all dept.The ratio of teacher : student is 2 : 24 in our department. Our HOD sir and the other Sir both have Doctorate in English literature.HOD sir is really good at teaching compared to the other Sir.But I really enjoy all my classes here.Their teaching method is student centric and they know what they are doing. So our examination system is semester-wise. In 3 years we have 6 Semesters in total and in between every semester we have 1 mid-term. So we write 12 examinations in 3years in total.The level of difficulty in exams is moderately difficult but with a little hardwork 1 can succeed easily. I have already written 2 exams now and my results are pretty good.

From your last semester you are eligible for applying for different govt.jobs.There are no campus placements here. My plan is to aspire for KVS PRT after completing graduation.I am well on my way.All the other good students can get jobs in different government sectors after completing graduation and passing different job entrances.

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 I can't go to college since March 2020.But I like my college life a lot.The name of the annual fest in our college is "Surabhi" where I had a lot of fun previous year.It was held in Dec 2019. Yes,I like our campus because 1 of the reasons I go regularly is the Library.I absolutely love that space.Its so quite and nice.Almost all the time the books we require are available.Besides that,library has different newspapers,magazines,Novels etc. Our classrooms are also well furnished and though it's not all technologically advanced it's quite manageable. Our college has NCC,Boy Scouts and Girl Guides,Redcross and NSS.Students can take part in any of these things they like and apart from that they can participate in different sports to represent our college in district and state level.College also organise annual blood donation camp, extracurricular activities, competitions,college championships etc. Our college has not an individual website for it because it's an government aided college under Utkal University.Our college get featured in SAMS official website.

Fee Structure is semester-wise. For every semester we have to do readmission and give exam fees also.Per semester the fees is approximately 5000 in total. The opportunity of scholarship is open for ST,SC and EWS students who are good students.They can apply for government scholarship programs and most of the time they get the benifits. There are different scholarship programs held by odisha govt. every year which those students can apply. Our college unfortunately does not provide any campus jobs or stipends because it's a government college.

The hostel facility is available.The rooms are nice and well furnised.The meals quality is moderate.Hostel facility is available at the time of admission as well.If any one wants they can make the registration for it.Hostel is pretty decent and affordable.It would probably cost 180000- 200000/- in total for 3years including meals.I am a local student but some of my classmates also stay in rental rooms.They say it's affordable as well and they cook so it's even more cheap for them.U see Choudwar is a very cheap place to stay.

No I didn't face any GD/IP for admission.For taking admission into humanities we have to apply for the colleges we want and then after somedays the merit list comes by which we can know if we got selected in any of our preferred colleges or not. There are merits list that come one by one i.g. first selection list then 2nd and then spot selection.I got selected in first selection only.
