Location is the only thing that pesters students a little bit.
Entrance Preview
Entrance Exam taken- MT-CET 2013, I had scored 109/200. I had scored low but since the college offers Sindhi Minority seats, it was good to know that still I can learn at a renowned college. Admission in other Sindhi management college like TSEC, Bandra was also a cakewalk for me. But as per suggestions and the location of my college, I opted for VESIT.
Course Curriculum Overview
There's nothing much specific when it comes to course curriculum because that's decided by University of Mumbai [MU]. And every college affiliated to MU has to follow that. I'm CSE undergrad and I'm glad to see topics such as Android and Big Data and DWM being covered in syllabi. College welcomes people who are eager about research work and programs like Learning Beyond Syllabus.
Internships Opportunities
No, but students can opt for internship off campus except for the MCA students of our college. MCA students can never land a job whatever might be the college, they're offered internships on-campus. Not for B.E students.
Placement Experience
As of now, this year huge companies such as JPMC, Morgan Stanley, IVP and MAQ have visited our campus. Diebold and SAP Labs are coming soon. The packages offered for huge/dream companies could be anywhere in range of 5-8 or 10 Lakh per annum. Other renowned companies like Accenture, Capgemini, L&T [IT], ATOS, etc have also visited. In all, 40+ companies visit our campus every year.
College Events
Technical fest named "PRAXIS" is held in Sept. end week annually. Cultural fest of VESIT is Utsav which is held in even semesters. Musical fests of VESIT are Octaves and Bliss. For attending Praxis, students from colleges in all over Mumbai come every year. Some events happen to be huge enough that students from other states come over to witness that event.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible for the rich, who can keep aside 1 Lakh rupees for the entire academic year. SC/ST/NT/OBC students have to pay much less. But obvious. A student can also opt for Tuition Fee Wavier Scheme [TFWS] of MU at the time of admission if his/her CET/JEE score is high enough for being eligible for TFWS.
Fees and Financial Aid
If a student scores just more than average [7+ CGPI] then he could avail some scholarships offered by different organizations. And people who have top rank in their class in academics also avail good perks.
Campus Life
Engineering is a branch stereotyped as one with imbalanced gender ratio and that boys opt for it more than girls. However, in few cases, some classes have had more girls than boys like in IT. So that's a good sign. Workshops and events held by societies such as CSI-VESIT, IEEE-VESIT, ISTE-VESIT often are high in number; high enough to overwhelm students. That helps learn new things.
Hostel Facilities
Having a hostel in campus is a win-win situation for students and colleges. College like VESIT get to accommodate students from far away places in India who come to Mumbai for studying which they haven't got if they'd have opted for other colleges. However the stay is limited to 2 years. So in these two years students can search for PG in nearby places and get shifted there afterwards. The mess food needs to be improved. However not long ago [just a week ago] the students were gifted by a Coffee Day xpress - outlet and the rates are as low as they could be.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni meets are many a time organized and the alumni who have reached at a successful position in their careers share their stories to ignite the fire inside of young minds so that they could also reach at a desired position in their careers.
Exam Structure
Exams dates are again decided by MU and not by college. Unlike autonomous colleges, which don't give much break in between two exams; MU chooses to give a 5-day gap before the next exam so if a person is having a backlog can prepare for their KT exam. It applies to every MU affiliated college.
Faculty
The faculty in my humble opinion, is experienced enough to even teach Masters. All teachers are Master's degree holder. And some have also done PhDs. Plus they have published many papers. Every semester a faculty advisor is allotted to every group of five students to help them out in case they are stuck somewhere in their career or even with trivial issues of life.
