Remarks
It takes admission by merit of entrance exam conducted by state and provides education at very lost cost than the other engineering colleges in the state. For getting admission in this college you have to give an entrance exam named JKCET conducted by JKBOPEE. ADVANTAGES: 1. Low fees. 2. Highly valuable degree from the state. 3. Efficient teachers. Disadvantages: 1. As college is in a rural area, so lack of facilities. 2. Not efficient labs and internet connectivity. Overall the college is Good and you will get a lifetime best experience here.
Course Curriculum Overview
GCET offers multiple courses of B.E and M.Tech. Mechanical, Civil, E&C, Electrical and computer engineering. Here the quality of courses offered is much better than the other colleges in the state. Faculty: In all the branches especially there are more than 10 teachers and 5-6 laboratory staff. For every 15 students, there is one mentor available. Mostly the teachers are M.TECH and some even may do PhD. The teaching method of the teachers is amazing as they know the reputation of the college. So they provide their best. Semester exams were generally on time and it's easy to pass the exam if the student thoroughly studies the entire syllabus.
Placement Experience
From 7th semester onwards students will be eligible for campus placements. Last year many companies including mostly IT companies gave offers to the students e.g Wipro, HCL, TCS, Maruti etc are some of them. From the batch of 300 students, 20-25 students get college placements only. There is less option for branches other than a computer for getting placement through college. The highest and lowest package is about 4 LPA and 2LPA resp as per my sources. 10-15% of students only get placement through the campus. After getting my degree I plan to join the armed forces.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fess structure: as it is a government-sponsored college so the fees here is much less than the other colleges in the state. Odd semesters fees are around 23000 and for even semesters it is around 15,000-16,000. Financial assistance is provided to the students falling under the EWS/TWF category. You can also avail a scholarship from NSP. Generally, there are fees hikale around every 3-4 years.
Campus Life
Mostly Diwali, Holi etc. Fests are organised by the student's organisation in GCET. The time of these fests depends upon the permission and the schedule given by the administration of GCET. A lot of Books and Journals are present in the library. So, no need to worry about books. The college has one playground for cricket, one for volleyball and a tennis playground in the hostel. There is a red ribbon club in college and Nss club which organises all the social activities. And a CRIO club for innovation.
