Remarks
I took up CAT 2019 on November 24th and my interview and WAT was on February 10, 2020. I used information from the college's official website Collegedunia, Quora and Shiksha while selecting.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is aimed at producing future managers in agri-business domain. My aspiration to contribute to the agriculture sector and improve my management skills made FABM as the most suitable course for me. The faculty-student ratio is 1:5. The faculty are well trained and have great expertise in the subjects they are handling. The teaching method stands out from the rest of the colleges with the usage of the case pedagogy. the learnings are very practical and thought-provoking. The term exams and the surprise quizzes form a major part of qualifying the course other than assignments and class participation. Following all the classes and being updated in concepts discussed each day is necessary to come up with a good grade. Extremely poor performance may lead to F grade.
Internships Opportunities
The companies that visited were more than 30 including cloud tail, RB, Amway, P&G, Corteva, UPL, Udaan, Licious and Godrej agro vet. The stipends ranged from 20K to 1.5L. The projects are company and role-specific.
Placement Experience
The summer placement is held in the 2nd term and final placements in the last term. More than 30 companies visited for FABM program for summers. Some of the companies are Godrej agro vet, Nestle, Corteva, UPL, Udaan, Licious and Everest instruments. More than 40 offers were made. For summers, the highest package was 1.5 lakhs per month by RB. The average was around 50K per month. 100 percent placement was achieved. My plan is to start my career as a manager in the supply chain.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees come to a total of around 23 lakhs for the whole program with fees being paid at the beginning of each term for 6 terms. Bank loans are available under the IIM loan scheme in various banks which also provide rs.10000 per month for other expenses. Various merit-based and need-based scholarships covering up to 2-3 lakhs are available for students. The summer internship stipend depends on the company and may range up to Rs.1-2 lakhs per month for 2 months.
Campus Life
There are more than 50 clubs open to all students. CHAOS and The Red Brick Summit are the flagship events held at IIMA besides Krishi Manthan, the flagship event FABM program. The library has over 4 lakh books and is open 24/7. The classrooms are well equipped but for now, online classes are being held in zoom. The clubs take care of extracurriculars and competitions. All the clubs are run by students.
Hostel Facilities
The room has a bed, table, chairs, study light, AC and wardrobe. The hostel fee is collected along with the term fee. The meal quality is good in a mess. There are also a lot of other options to dine since there are many food outlets on the campus as well as around it.
Interview Experience
The Written Ability Test was conducted for admission. The topic was to elaborate the need for livestock besides their contribution to pollution and high water consumption. I prepared mostly by going through newspaper articles, being updated in current affairs and watching relevant youtube videos. The criteria for admission is mostly giving weightage to WAT and interview in case of IIMA.
