The Inifd experience.

I'm satisfied with my experience at inifd. I loved the diversity. I got to know people from different states and cultures. I learnt a lot from the faculties and the complete environment there.

I was very happy that there were no entrance exams to be given to get admission at inifd. I'm not a fan of the discrimination students have to face depending on their score. They're just numbers.

I pursued interior design. All I wanted was complete technical knowledge along with a creative atmosphere to think of new innovations. I was happy that the institute offered it to me. First year of my course, we focused on the foundation rules of design and less practical work. And the other two years we would visit different sites and see how work is done.

The college does not offer internships directly but they inform and refer their students good places where they can apply and inform them about vacancies whenever and wherever there are any. The stipend varies vividly depending on how big or small the architectural/Interior firm is.

There are no direct placements in inifd Chandigarh. Although the faculties and administration stay in touch with the students even after they pass out and they inform them of all good vacancies and opportunities from time to time. They refer the deserving candidates to good firms as well.

Inifd Chandigarh is well known for their grand celebrations, whether it's teacher's day, christmas, diwali or navtratri. A number of events are celebrated within and outside the institute. Students have a good time performing, dancing and they get to know students from other courses. They hold fashion shows for the fashion design students where they can portray their designs among students and faculties and other guests invited.

For me personally, it wasn't expensive or feasible. Somewhere in between. If you compare it with other government institutes then you will definitely find it expensive but if you compare it with other design institutes then inifd is definitely feasible.

No I don't really know of any scholarships or loan faculty that this institute offers. Although I feel there should be. I believe scholarships and facilities like these encourage students to work hard and help the students who can't afford.

The campus life wasn't any similar to other campuses in Chandigarh. It does not have a very large campus where you and go out and about. The institute is pretty small but comfortable. Since it's a fashion institute you would see more girls compared to guys. But lately the ratio is being balanced.

Although the institute offers hostel facility, I opted for PG. Me and my roommate shared one bedroom combined with a bathroom. There was one kitchen in the building and the food was provided to us by the landlord. This facility costed us 5000 rupees a month including food and electricity. The food quality was alright.

Inifd has its own page on Facebook which keeps all the generations of students and faculties connected. We often get to know the students who passed out even before we joined and we can talk about our courses, the curriculum and everything.

Inifd is affiliated with annamalai university, so the exams are conducted by the university. The exams are held on annual basis. A school is provided as a center of examination and students go there to give their exams. The theoretical exams are supposed to be given at the center provided by the university. All other practical or assessment related exams are taken within the institute.

One of my mom's friend referred this institute to me. I visited the institute and took the form from the reception. They had people appointed to answer every question I had in mind. They also gave me a tour of the campus before I filled in. The administration was very cooperative. They didn't rush with anything and patiently cleared all my doubts about the course and everything. Then they helped me fill the form and gave me the prospectus including all the course details. I didn't have any trouble getting admission.

The faculty of inifd Chandigarh is well rounded, well qualified and friendly. The best part was we could go to them whenever we needed help with anything and they would happily cater to us. Being away from home is difficult but when the faculty makes you feel home, that's all you can ask for.
