SCMS Cochin School of Business Kochi, MBA, General

Reviewed on Sep 26, 2020

Remarks

Placements are the main attraction of this college. This is college is considered as the top tier 2 colleges in Kerala where students compete to get into it.Reputation is a factor that helps students to reach here.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is good with more practical knowledge than the faculties are pressurized to get the full results out of us where we get all the pressure from the faculties.some faculties try to reduce the pressure where in most of them put on the pressure on us to make us prepare for the corporate world.

Class Size: 25Course Fees: INR 700000 per year

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements were fine earlier. But as years are passing down placements are reduced and the quality of students are also diminishing. The management couldn't find the right talent for their institution or they couldn't improve their students to be competitive.Anyways the institute is now facing a serious problem of having low placements.

College Events

3.5

Events are held but they all are very small. Not much exposure to top colleges. They need to work up on extra curricular activities as they put on some events for the sake of doing something good for the students.

Campus Life

Infrastructure is good. Its enough for studying MBA.But compared to other top colleges it's infrastructure is not upto the mark.Canteen is a small one with short list of menu.We don't have a stationary shop or photostat shop for us in the campus. For each and everything we need to go outside to buy such things which waste our time roaming around the city.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel is fine. There is only 4 bed sharing in a small area which makes the room conjusted.study rooms are also very small where we couldn't actually study in a peaceful manner.echo is the main problem in the hostel.

Hostel Fee: INR 30000 per year

Experiences so far

Likes

My experience at lissah has been mixing of challenges. Psychology depart has supportive teachers and classes is good
Campus is peaceful and it’s so greenery there are opportunities to take part in different academics
I also like that the psychology department has its own lab and practical exposure and Lissah is well known for psychology itself

Dislikes

I feel that there could be more programmes activities and opportunities for students to make college life
Location could feel like quiet and it’s not in town area
Those who prefer more active atmosphere I would not recommend here

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose bsc psychology because I was interested in understanding human behaviour. The curriculum covers different areas of psychology along with subjects such as major psychology minor statistics and physiology then English mdc . Since I am still in my first year I have only experienced the initial part of course

TIST , Great college , fun events and more

Likes

Our seniors passed out with flying colors joining different companies or starting their own. There's a good focus on peer learning and student communities which is pretty nice. Canteen food is decent and labs are great
Most people and professors are friendly and they encourage you to try out new things.

Dislikes

Hostel water , busses are pretty fast. Sometimes roads are a bitt rough

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

I feel like staffs in my department are pretty good, atleast they fullfill their duties to cover the portions in right time
We have placements training, offered free of cost by college itself
Notes and necessary materials for studying are provided from college itself, and most teachers don't force on buying textbooks or other materials

Dislikes

College is located in aarakunnam, which is a bit remote area hence for various needs we often need to travel a few kilometres even for basic necessities
The road to collage entrance is a steep road, and currently it's under construction (it's been a yr)
Students are required to park their vehicles outside the college, as there is no parking facilities for students inside campus

Placement Experience:

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

The sports facilities are pretty good considering the supplements they have
The library got my attention since it has alot of books and its the centre of attraction of the college

Dislikes

The college doesn't provide any placements and job opportunities
The college doesn't provide any pool options for swimming lessons
Teachers get changed every now and then this makes the continuity of the lessons very hard

Course Curriculum Overview:

The social service got my eyes on this course. The intention of creating the mentality of helping others by social service made me join the course. This course provides a great service towards the betterment of future and people in it.
