Remarks
The college is great. You will experience everything you need to. There are both good and bad ways in amity. You need to select what in the end do you want.
Entrance Preview
Amity have alot of ways to take admission. It accepts the result of various common entrance exams like JEE mains for B.tech. Apart from these amity itself has its own system in which an interview and a proficiency test is conducted.Eligibility criteria has minimum of 60% in Senior secondary education.
Course Curriculum Overview
Amazing course curriculum. Apart from the regular and degree related courses, foreign language, behavioural science and English are mandatory courses in every semester. The curriculum is properly designed with adequate attention to each and every subject. There are minimum number of classes for each subject that must be conducted. There are open elective courses like volleyball, basketball and all sorts of sports along with dance cooking music bakery etc. Also there are various options to study abroad for a few semesters.
Internships Opportunities
No internships provided as such and also the placement cell is not up to the mark. Though the faculties are in constant support but there are not many companies that visit our campus. Those who get placed by campus do not get much relevant jobs or packages. The last placement from my department I saw was in Wipro which is not much of a food technology related company. The job title was of Project manager and the package offered was of around Rs.3,50,000/-.
Placement Experience
Not many companies visit our college for placement. Those who get placed by campus do not get much relevant jobs or packages. The last placement from my department I saw was in Wipro which is not much of a food technology related company. The job title was of Project manager and the package offered was of around Rs.3,50,000/-.
College Events
AMITY YOUTH FEST is the cultural fest. It is highly renowned and takes place every year in the month of Feb.There are various fest that takes place every year with various technical and management theme. All these fests observe a mass participation from all the departments. Not only this but various star nights with many celebrities performing live are held. The college is alive with activities throughout the year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee is expensive. My fee for the course is Rs.80,000/semester which is half of the other B.tech courses offered by the university. The fee though is high seems nothing when compared to the facilities offered by the college. Though for some mainstream engineering courses like Architecture and Industrial subjects the fees is very high i.e. Rs.1,50,000/semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes a lot of merit based scholarships are there. They start with admission if you have 85% or more in class 12th. You have to maintain your SGPA with a position in top three of the batch. There are many scholarships offered time to time if you participate in sports or other cultural activities according to your achievements.
Campus Life
Campus life is great. There are parties in student dorm in the beginning of semester. They happen almost for 2 months. There are workshops on all personality, skills and technical backgrounds. Students from all parts of the world visit amity and the cultural exchange programmes are held frequently. There is 1:1 gender ratio. No politics amongst students. Students from all economic backgrounds are present. Tolerance is an issue in amity. There are certain rules which force division amongst girls and boys. The discipline coordinators can not tolerate boys shaking hands with girls. Bo holding hands no side hugs.No voice against authority. There have been instances where chief proctors harass students. The wardens use foul language to the students. They will find reason to put a charge on you just because you got in their hands. No matter how much logical are you they will impose there backward theory on you. For example - a friend of mine was holding his female best friend's hand and a proctor saw them. They did not just scold them but changed the whole incident. The statement was changed that they were found kissing. Then the boy's character was questioned. The parents of both knew about there friendship (mind they were not in a relationship) and also about their respective boyfriend and girlfriend so they were understanding. But without listening to even the parents, they imposed suspension in both of them.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are well maintained but not worth it. They are expensive. Rs.1,50,000 per annum on sharing with one another student. The cost doesn't include food. The wardens are not at all good. They use abusive and foul language with students (even girls). They are secure but like a jail for students. A lot of options available for PG facility with our without food and laundry. With food the rent is about Rs.8,000/month. A lot of students stay in 2/3 BHK flats on sharing basis with 5-7 other students. The cost including food per person turns out to be Rs.15000/head including transportation.
Alumni/Alumna
Not a maintained alumni network is present. Seniors tell the same thing we see around us. Things are good if you can accept a few things as they are and also are capable of time management.
Exam Structure
Exam structure is of moderate difficulty. Can be coped upon well. We have minor or internal exams scheduled in 3 days of a semester and are separate for labs. There are 10-12 subjects in a semester so there are probably 2 or 3 exams conducted in a day. Exams though are highly easy.
Faculty
Highly qualified professionals from prestigious institutions like IITs and Gold medallist researchers in various fields are appointed as a faculty. For most of the technical subjects the eligibility criteria is minimum Phd for a faculty. The faculties are involved in various research programmes with students. They tend to improvise the methods of teaching and also support in learning the practical examples and applications.
