Remarks
1. The brand Xavier's itself carries a weightage. Since it's a nova university it will take time to grow. 2. The faculty in the English department is not excellent in the city but it's very good one. Hardworking, disciplined and sincere when it comes to teaching. Very helpful too. One does not require extra effort to understand something if proper attention is paid in the class. They encourage students in critical thinking outside the syllabus. Also put a lot of effort to make each and every student successful by boosting confidence in them. 3. The infrastructure is excellent and well equipped. 4. Very Disciplined and strict atmosphere which is good but also has certain disadvantages since it limits and restricts the student's freedom. 5. 75_ Attendance is mandatory. 6. Better marking system than Calcutta University. Students are marked on the basis of what they actually deserve. Writing rubbish won't fetch you with any marks. 7. Syllabus is interesting and is updated every year which gives a variety of scope for learning and it's helpful for higher studies. 8. Overall everything is quite good and satisfactory except the quality of the library, since it's a new university. However, students can access a lot of online educational sites for e-books, articles and journals.
Course Curriculum Overview
As mentioned earlier faculty is extremely good but not excellent in the city. Reach out to all the students and not confine themselves to the toppers. All the students are encouraged to produce their talent and to work hard. Syllabus is interesting and updated one. Emphasis is on Critical thinking and paper presentation.
Placement Experience
Placement process is Average to good. No alumni directly from the university since it's new but St, Xavier's College provide a network of notable alumnus which benefits the existing students. Many students are pursuing higher studies from notable Institutions like Jadavapur. Students also got good jobs, cleared NET and got qualified for Assistant professor.
College Events
The University has an annual festival called Xavrang which is grand. There are quite a lot of festivals that keep on happening every month conducted by each and every department. It's glamorous and great.
Campus Life
Infrastructure is excellent in the University which the College lacks. All kinds of sport facilities are provided. 24 hours Wi-Fi inside the campus. The library is new so it will take a lot of time to grow. But digital library is made accessible to the students.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are excellent considering the other hostels in the city or state per say. 1. Rooms are spacious with two and three sharing. The infrastructure is amazing. Wi-Fi is provided 24 hours. Unlimited water supply in washrooms. Clean and hygienic. Provides a beautiful view of the nature from the balcony. Lift, indoor games and gym facilities are available. 2. It's quote expensive to board the hostel. For two sharing it's 60,000 per semester and for three sharing it's a bit expensive for the attached bathroom facility. 3. You need to apply for the hostel before the university admission to get seats. So as soon as the hostel form comes out fill it without any delay. It's based on first come first serve basis. 4.The mess food is average to good than other hostels in the state. There is variety in the menu. Also special dinner is provided twice a month which is sumptuous.
