Remarks

One of the better college in Maharashtra after KEM college. Except for a few drawbacks, this college has excellent facilities to excel in MBBS and enough spare time to prepare for your Post Graduation.

Entrance Preview

MH-CET. Admission process is quite simple. You have to fill your preference form according to your wish and depending on your rank, preference, caste you will be alloted the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure is overall good.First year is for one year and has three subjects anatomy, physiology and biochemistry.Second year is for one amd half year and four subjects- Pharmacology, pathology, microbiology and forensic medicine.Third year is of two years divided intofirst year-ENT, Ophthalmology and PSMSecond year-Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology and PediatricsBut final year is too tedious and i feel second year can be shortened to one year.

Internships Opportunities

There is internship of one year. The stipend is only 6000 INR. The stipend should be much more looking at the work load of interns.

Placement Experience

4

There is a compulsory government job of rank medical officer for one year.Other options are also available. You can apply for the PG exams by going through entrance exam. There are a lot of Paramedical and PG seats in different branches. You can also apply for PG in United states by applying for USMLE. So overall there is a 100% placements. Remember there is scarcity of doctors so you wont be left without work anywhere in India.

College Events

4

There are two cultural festivals - Aarambh - intercollege festivalShravansari - intra college festivalOther festivals like ganesh festival amd dandiya night are also celebrated.Technical and study festivals like symposium and quizzes are organized.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure increases every year by7%.The current fee structure for year 2015 is 67000 college fees, 4000 hostel fees, 4000 deposits for laboratory and library 5000 admission fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

Private scholarships like J.R.D Tata trust provides scholarship for scholars. Other scholarship for category students is available.

Campus Life

3.5

Girls are much more in number.Workshop, cultural societies are good and knowledgeable.Patient to doctor ratio is quite good amd there is a lot of exposure for students to learn. Labor wards, trauma wards, MICU are well maintained and there is a rush of lot of patients, so the practical and practice views are covered. Students are from various backgrounds due to admission also thrpugh All india pre medical entrance. There is no discrimination done on the basis of caste, religion or any such ethnicity. There is good rapport between juniors and seniors and they mix up well. The college campus is very small and there are hardly any place in campus to hang around. Canteen has a lot of rush during lunch time.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel facility is very good compared to other medical college. Mess is quite ok but it is too expensive for a government aided and BMC aided college.

Alumni/Alumna

College seniors are wonderful. They help you with books, important questions and also most importantly help you to tackle stress factors of exam and give brilliant ideas to face your exams. There is nice bonding and it is well reflected in the college festivals when everyone thoroughly enjoys each others company.

Exam Structure

Exams schedule is per yearly in the month of december. The periodly unit and posting exams are quite hectic sometimes.

Faculty

4.5

Faculty is excellent.Well qualified doctors with a lot of experience. Teachers are very much concerened about students academics and they help them a lot. They not only give them knowledge but also keep various seminars and practicals to make it better for the students to understand the course. Overall you will always be kept engaged in one or the other activity which ultimately helps to develop your overall personality.

Course Curriculum Overview:

MBBS is definately a tough course. along with being tough, it also puts some responsibilities on your shoulders as you will be treating real people with real problems in the real world as you complete this course. while studying, students should focus more on 'why' and 'how' type questions than 'what' type of questions. the major exams are conducted in 9 semesters . each semester is of 6 months + 1 year of compulsary internship.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The current curriculum is comprehensive based curriculum. Here practical knowledge is more important than bookish knowledge. So now spending more time in wards is of greater importance. Exams are held accordingly - 2 internals, 1 prilims and 1 University held by MUHS. Each exam is followed by practical examination. This curriculum will help to build good doctors rather than bookish doctors.
