Entrance Preview

I took Maharashtra common entrance test (mh-cet) after my 12th exams. I scored 184/200 and opted for Topiwala National Medical College. First reason for opting this choice was the basic hostel needs for residing in Mumbai are the best in this college. Hostel premises are a great place to live in. And the second reason was that the college is known to be having a excellent academics record and teaching faculty.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course is spread over five and half years including internship for MBBS. 19 subjects are divided between first year to final year. Faculty to student ratio is nearly 1:5 with highly trained and efficient staff. Very well known teachers in their respective fields are guided properly by our respected Dean Dr. R N Bharmal. Teachers here not only teach you basic medicine but also go become a good doctor.

Internships Opportunities

Internship as far as I heard is very very important step for becoming doctors. It is the first step you take as a doctor treating people. Though it is quite difficult in the beginning you get used to it. Various night postings and complete day emergency services take the challenge to a whole new level. The stipend currently paid to an intern is 6000/- rs per month.

Placement Experience

4

During internship you need to give a pg- cet exam on the basis of which you get the admission to post graduate courses. The top courses are medicine, surgery, radiology and pediatrics. The competition levels are quite high and rising day by day. For you must secure a position in top college you must rank within the first 100 students.

College Events

4

College events celebrated are AARAMBH, SHRAVANSARI. AARAMBH is an intercollege event which is the most prestigious part of college life for a nairite. Colleges all over Mumbai as well as other cities come to participate in various events. Celebrities add attraction and glamour to the festival. Rock bands and fashion shows are the favorites among the youth. SHRAVANSARI is more of a college festival celebrating the rains. Marathi festival which is having dance and dramas and plays all in the local language for the homeland.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The overall fees for a MBBS course is 2, 52, 000/- approxEvery semester fees for my batch is nearly 25, 000/- rs with the fees increasing every year. Hostel fees is very less and is 4000/- rs per annum. The yearly price hike is making it impossible for common man to take admission even after having scored so well in exams.

Fees and Financial Aid

Local institutions like Tata foundation, Nirav modi foundation, Narottam sheksaria foundation, Hamir mehta foundation etc provide scholarships to the needy students on interview basis.

Campus Life

4

Campus is a friendly atmosphere with juniors seniors and batchmates altogether. Boys or girls, all comes to one when it is about extracurricular activities. Be a party or birthday bash everyone celebrates this life lovingly and happily. Culturals are a part of this college and every student have equal opportunities to be a part of it. Street plays, wall paintings, face paintings, fine arts, advertising etc are really enjoyable. Their is no such discrimination when is comes to gender, race or even economic status. This is the biggest plus about this college which ensures that every student will be nurtured properly. About politics, it is a battle between dignity and fame, work and worship, power and authority. Students have to prove themselves worthy of the post and win the battle. Though this battle sometimes turn ugly, it often resolves after the elections are over. But the actual thrill comes after being elected as to prove urself worthy or else will be thrown out.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The college is equipped with four boys hostel which houses 730 students. The girls hostel has 65 rooms with a capacity of around 190 students. It also has a special Nursing quarters building for students of the Nursing school. Each of its hostels have facilities for different recreational activities. Hostel provides a sports ground with indoor sports facility as well. We have a canteen at the hostel and the food is pretty good. Overall anyone who comes to see the hostel is quite happy.

Alumni/Alumna

Their is an annual global alumni meet where all the ex nairite featuring the college name in various parts of the world come to meet the young aspirants. They share their experiences and provide important guidance to us. They also grant donations to students and the charity for betterment of premises. Seniors are the true savoirs being always with you. They guide you, help you, scold you but always keep you on track.

Exam Structure

The exams are surely hectic with a lot of effort required to perform well. The exam schedule takes up your whole day and leaves you drenched and tired. Theory exams are quite better with 3 hours of exam time.

MBBS is definately a tough course. along with being tough, it also puts some responsibilities on your shoulders as you will be treating real people with real problems in the real world as you complete this course. while studying, students should focus more on 'why' and 'how' type questions than 'what' type of questions. the major exams are conducted in 9 semesters . each semester is of 6 months + 1 year of compulsary internship.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The current curriculum is comprehensive based curriculum. Here practical knowledge is more important than bookish knowledge. So now spending more time in wards is of greater importance. Exams are held accordingly - 2 internals, 1 prilims and 1 University held by MUHS. Each exam is followed by practical examination. This curriculum will help to build good doctors rather than bookish doctors.
