Remarks
The reason for choosing SCMS was nore than the brand name it adds to your CV. It is a college which provides exposure to you in all verticals. There is more to this college than just the degree, it provides you with hands on experience to life. SCMS was a new place to me, where I had to fight for every place, volunteer or interview myself into things, something I would have easily achieved if I would have joined any college in Mumbai due to contacts and recommendations. SCMS is a place where you have to take the effort to get anything, it challenges you and that's what made me opt for it.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was updated and was as per the current situation and was fit for the students, not being too strict while not allowing the students to be free, it is a mix of real life knowledge and the theory that is important to be applied in practicality of work. SCMS offers specialization from the second year itself, you have an option of 6 specialization, where you can choose two. It is one of those colleges which provides students with the option of dual specialisation giving them that extra edge over the others. There is compulsory corporate as well NGO internship in second year providing students with enormous exposure to the work front. Scms makes it a strict point in there curriculum to add online courses, helping the students extract knowledge from various fronts and using the resources wisely. The students are also taught and encouraged to write research papers, one of the keen qualities. The faculty is extremely helpful and reachable.
Placement Experience
The placement is one of the major plus points of Scms. Huge companies from Tommy Hilfiger to KPMG, symbiosis hosts them all for campus placements. There is one cell dedicated for this process - the placement cell. There is one junior cell to them, called the internship cell too. They make the process of hosting the companies on campus extremely easy. There is cv building workshops to mock interviews to prepare students. There is a 95% placement record.
College Events
The campus life is bright in Scms. Thanks to the various clubs, committee and cells dedicated to different verticals of life, there is always some activity or event happening in the college, which keeps it alive. The first years are treated with the best year of their life, there is one business fest (conoscenza) and one cultural fest( cult nights ) of 5 days organised exclusively for the first years. They make friendship, their class unites to win and it is an overall experience in itself. It marks the beginning of college, something totally different from school. SCMS hosts pune biggest college festival - SYMPULSE. It is a massive 5 day fest attracting participants from the entire country.
