Remarks

Although NIT Jaipur is one of the best that anyone could ask for, there's still a lot of room for improvement. 1. The infrastructure, specially the labs and the placement cell could be a lot better. I wanted to include the canteen but that has changed a lot in the past years. 2. The teachers, although highly qualified, need to realise their duties towards students and make the curriculum more interesting and friendly towards the ones who score less. 3. The management. There's a huge need of being internet friendly so that the alumni do not have to go to the college for every small requirement.

Entrance Preview

I took IIT JEE, BITSAT, AIEEE for engineering entrances. I managed to clear all three and got ISM Dhanbad, BITS Pilani Chemical, and MNIT Jaipur Electronics & Communication through these three exams and chose MNIT as the final option. There was no further process after round 1 of counselling.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The first year is a common part for all engineers where we study basics of Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical, Computers, Electronics, Mechanical, Engineering drawing and English. After that there are branch specific subjects for students. The curriculum is designed in a way that it isn't too taxing on the student and gives him a practical approach towards the subject. The assignments were a fine blend of theory and real life examples.

Internships Opportunities

Many companies like Microsoft, Quallcom and many startups too come to the campus to offer internships with stipends ranging from 10 to 30k a month. Most students generally take internships at manufacturing plants and industries instead of on campus and prefer a learning experience over anything else.

Placement Experience

3.5

NIT Jaipur has been consistent in getting all the students placed every year with most of the tier 1 companies coming to the campus with attractive packages. Even a batch of 80+ strength gets placed with an average package of over 5 lpa and a highest package of up to 20 lpa.Companies like Microsoft , Adobe, Quallcom, Oracle, Amazon, for ECE, CSE and IT branches take many students while firms like Bajaj, Maruti, JCB, Lafarge, Reliance, Pidilite also take students from Chemical, Mechanical and metallurgy.

College Events

5

Apart from the chief events like Blitzschlag and Neuron that are large scale yearly events with a presence of over 2000 students, small events like Resonance, AIMB and many other literary, cultural, and entrepreneurship drives also take place in the college making it a perfect place for extra curricular development.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a government college the fee structure of NIT Jaipur is quite easy on the pockets of everyone. The tuition fee in 2011 was 35000 Rs per year, apart from the hostel, mess and other charges making it around 65000 a year for average hosteler. The same amount was discounted of the tuition fees for Girls and SC/ST students. There were scholarships for merit holders too.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are scholarships for AIEEE toppers by CBSE and the govt of India also provides scholarships for students scoring good ranks in AIEEE. All top banks like SBI, ICICI, HDFC etc. offer loans at very low rates since NIT Jaipur comes in the premier institute list.

Campus Life

4

The four years anyone spends in NIT Jaipur are probably the best in terms of overall growth. The academics don't need a mention here, since it's one of the top 20 engineering colleges in the country. Apart from acads, there are multiple societies for students to participate in the activity of their choice including Sports, Literary, Music, Robotics, SPIC Macay etc.Every year there are fests like Blitzschlag and Neuron which showcase the best of the students' creativity. The gender ratio in the college is 3:1, but that is almost 2:1 (in favor of boys) in fests. There's students from many parts of the world studying in the college and while there are groups formed on the basis of state, caste and other facts, there's no sort of discrimination and a great amount of tolerance towards everyone. With a central location in the city of Jaipur, there's a good amount of hang out points and recreational activities to indulge in.

Hostel Facilities

3

Since I was a day scholar, my review of hostels is limited to a few visits. But the hostels have improved quite a lot in the last two years and are almost at par with any other institution in the country offering a good space and high speed internet and other facilities at nominal fee.

Alumni/Alumna

NIT Jaipur is over 50 years old and has a huge network of distinguished alumni across the world. In almost every industry and company, you can find MNIT Alumnus in even in the top level management. The seniors in the college are quite helpful for the freshers and the ones who pass out also get placed in respected firms and reputed colleges, thereby making a name of the college where they go and making it easy for the future students to get acquainted with the place when they go there. NIT jaipur is one of the top 5 NITs and top 20 colleges for engineering in the country and once you've made it inside, the need to worry about the future will be considerably less.

Exam Structure

Mostly the college runs from morning 9 to evening 5, but most of the days you'll have a few hours free even in this period. Labs aren't too frequent but maintained decently. There are two mid terms and a final term every semester. The last one covering 50% of the marks of entire semester.

Faculty

3

Given the college is an NIT, the faculty is no doubt highly qualified and best of the class. The administration too is quite good. Although there are times when being a govt college, teachers do away with their responsibilities and MTech and PhD students have the onus on them but even in that case, a good student wouldn't face much problems.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Food is a vast subject and people will not stop eating, so the scope of food technology is just amazing. The college has its own faculty for different subjects. This btech course is of 4 years ie 8 semesters. Each semester has midterms and final semester exams. Last semester is for an internship. Midterms are of 20 marks, practical of 30 marks and final semester theory exams of 50 marks, so passing the exam is damn easy. Regular classes with good faculties make this course easy.
