Entrance Preview

All kerala entrance examinationI had a rank of 13345I opted for this college because this college was near to my house and this college had a very good academic record. The number of students passing out each year was higher as compared to other private self financing colleges under kerala university.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

The course was a 4 year course. I studied the 2008 scheme. The 1st year subjects and syllabus was common for all the branches. From 6th semester onwards we had to choose our elective subject from a list of atleast 5 subjects. But only 2 electives would be taught. The top 2 electives which majority of students prefer would be taught.

Internships Opportunities

Instead of internship, we had to do our industrial training which was part of our syllabus. We had to undergo training for 7 days at any civil engineering related company. And then had to prepare an industrial training report, which would be subjected to questioning by the external examiner during course viva. The training could be done in groups of maximum 9 persons.

Placement Experience

0.5

The placements were a bit problem for us. There were no civil engineering companies that would come to our college to provide job placement. The only other company that would come for the placement drive was HCL. But it was not of any use to me since I was a civil engineering student.

College Events

1.5

The biggest celebration was the technical fest named ASTRAL. Students from various technical colleges were invited. There were numerous competitions with a good amount of prize money. Then there would be the arts day.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As I had cleared the entrance examination and had secured a government seat, I had to pay a fees of ?35000 every year. The fees for management seat was ?65000. But now the fee structure has changed.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not aware of any such scholarship or loan. But, there might be some scholarship for students with good academic record coming from economically backward family.

Campus Life

2

The campus life was good with good relationship between the male and female students. The number of female students would be slightly high in each branch except in the mechanical branch. Ther ewould be workshops conducted on a regular basis with equal participation from both genders. There has never been a problem based on race, religion, politics or economic status. There was tolerence towards students coming from all sections of the society.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is very active. Alumni is conducted every year with a large number of participation. The experience with the senior students has always been a good one. I have not been able to have such a specific interaction with any senior student at the alumni since I am out of station and was not able to attend any alumni.

Exam Structure

The exam structure was not a big burden for us. The labs and regular examinations were conducted after giving reasonable time to prepare. The only problem arised for students with backlogs. They had to face exams in consecutive days. Otherwise exams were not such a burden as there was enough time to prepare for them.

Faculty

2

The faculty was excellent. Almost all our teachers were former students of top engineering colleges including NIT's. Our dean was a former faculty at IIT madras. The teaching standards were at par with top government engineering colleges.

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good, but not great. Because only 50% of students in a class are getting placed. From S7 onwards the placements have been started for our department. But for other departments, from S8 only companies have arrived. For CSE department, many companies are coming which include Cognizant, SOTI, Mitsogo, EY, 6D Technologies, etc. Our senior batch students have placed at many companies in this. But comparing with other senior batches, the placements at our batch is really bad.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
