PhD Plant Biotechnology from CIMAP

This is the best choice for a person like me who wants to further research and make contributions to the field of plant biotechnology. Everyday is a new learning experience for me, and the exposure I have to the leading research in the world gives me perspective and drive.

Course curriculum is not applicable for researchers, there are mandatory seminars, workshops and practicals that I am attending. The lab is well-equipped and most of us are there from early morning to late night.

The focus is on practical research and applications in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants. So there are a lot of placements, and there is no placement cell as such. After completing research, most of my seniors went to work for different research institutes and government programs.

As is known, PhD programs don't come with a fee structure, they come with research fellowships. It is decided at the time of your admission and changes with the government policy and allocation.

CIMAP focuses a lot on practical research work, instead of academic research work. The labs are well equipped with the latest technologies, and instruments; and the library is well stocked. We are sent on regular seminars within and outside the country.

The Central Institute for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants is the premier institute in India for research in botany. There are invitations and vacancies on the official website, I saw one for PhD and applied, after which there was an interview.

The faculty is illustrious, institutes like CIMAP were meant to be both research centers and educational institutes, which means that the faculty is made of the best researchers in horticulture and botany in the country.
