Ranju P's Review On College Of Engineering Poonjar, Kottayam

The admission procedures are based on the 'Kerala Entrance Examination' rank which is conducted by Govt.of Kerala once in an year. I choose this College because of college is affiliated to Cochin University of Science and Technology(CUSAT) which is the number one university in Kerala. College has a strong faculty and a peaceful atmosphere.

Electronics and Communication course has a wide range of opportunities .Also there are lot of chances for higher studies not only in India but also in abroad. We can choose either software or Hardware fields after the 4 year studies. For who are interested in research studies lot of sub branches in this field for example nano technology,signal processing, VLSI design etc.

No college never provide internship programs inside the campus. But we have a strong placement cell which contains both staff and students they provide a lot of internship programs at the time of vacations in another colleges and top level companies in India.

I explained earlier that we have a strong placement cell with staff and students. They provide lot of job opportunities inside the campus also combined with other colleges affiliated to CUSAT or managed by Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD), A Government of Kerala Undertaking. In this year 2015-2016 almost 85% students are placed. The companies such as IBS,WIPRO,TCS,NEST etc. choose their employees from our college in each year.

College conduct an inter college technical festival named as "ONYX" in every year lot of students in Kerala are participated in this event. We provide cash prices and certificates for winners in the events of this festival. Also there are lot of technical events conducted by IEEE, ISTE in every year .The intra college arts and sports festivals are also conducted in each year.

The fee structure is more feasible for average students in Kerala. There are mainly 2 type of seats 100% of seats are filled according to the rank of entrance examination in Kerala. Among this 50% is Government seat which has a fee of Rs 20000 per year , rest is management seat with Rs. 45000 per year.Both of these seats are filled according to the entrance rank only.

The central government of India and the state government of Kerala provide a lot of scholarship for our students. Not only on the basis of marks but also on the basis of annual income students can get their own scholarship. The college provide a scholarship team for applying and informing the various scholarship at the correct time.

The campus contains more girls than boys. Most of the students are outside the district and some are outside state. The political parties are active in campus but they do not take strike inside the campus because the IHRD band the strike inside campus. Also the senate election is held in each classes and it is not based on political parties. The labs are fully air conditioned and all labs are fully with components and equipments. A strong lab technicians are work in each lab to help students in their work.

College has a strong alumni association. The alumni members are contact with current teachers and students and they help them to improve the facilities of college. There is a meeting of alumni members in each year and the association has a bank account for the college development .

The course is in a duration of 4 years. That is 8 semesters. In each semester there is a university examination before these examination college conduct 2 internal evaluation and a model examination. That is before the university exam college give a 3 exam trainings. The marks for this internal exams are also considered in internal marks of the student.

The minimum qualification of a teaching staff in our college is MTech with 70% and above.Most of the faculty members are rank holders in BTech or MTech. Department heads are PHD holders. Teachers take their classes very well also they are friendly. Support students not only in their studies but also in their technical or cultural activities.
