Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum The course structure was designed with a major focus on field work. The weekly field works were scheduled where the students were required to visit NGOs, social institutions during their course duration. I have visited 10 NGOs and social institutions in my first year where I taught kids and made them learn the value of life. During our first year, we were taught the historical roots of professional social work in America and England. We were also taught the influence of western philosophy on development of social work and history of social work profession in India. This enables us to develop a global understanding of the social work and its relevance in the present scenario.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements The university prepares the students for Recruitment. There are various resume writing workshops and group discussions. The internships are also provided to the students who intern with various companies and startups during summer. I worked as summer intern at an NGO working on the nutrition of the children. This allowed me to practically apply my social work knowledge in the field. The students are also placed at the social welfare Ministry and work with various think tanks of the government in designing the social policy of the country.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure The annual fee was INR 28,500 which was nominal as it was under the control of the state university. The fee included the tuition fee, examination fee, professional development fee, sports and amenities fee. The facilities were provided as per the fee paid and I found the facilities to be good. I financed my fee through my savings and paid it through net banking.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships The university provided scholarships in the range of INR 50,000 - 80,000 to the brilliant students in bachelors. The master?s students receive higher amount as scholarship. We need to fill the form and submit it online after which the list of selected students come out. I received scholarship worth INR 30,000 during my first year for securing highest marks in my batch.

Campus Life

Campus life NSS Activity is the highlight of the campus. There are several events that are held as a part of NSS Cell such as blood donation camps, fairs, seminars etc. It is compulsory for very student to join NSS cell in their college life. I joined in my first year and worked on their projects that aimed at providing free rations to women and children, donation drive for cancer patients and creating awareness about the mental health among the students. The campus is situated in the vicinity of the city and is easily accessible from the main points in the city. The library has ample of books and international journals which can be accessed by the students. I liked to spend my time in the library reading the social books after my classes were over.

Admission

Admission I was in dilemma after completing my bachelors in sociology. I wanted to work for the society so I thought to go into social work. I decided to opt for Masters in social work. The university is among the few universities that provide Masters of Social Work (MSW). I checked through its courses on the official website and decided to pursue MSW from this university. The students of any discipline can apply which have obtained minimum 45% marks in the graduation examination or equivalent examination which is recognized by Allahabad state university. I applied online on the website of the university and uploaded all my documents. There were two options available to choose for admission- entrance exam or merit list (direct admission). I opted for the entrance exam and appeared in it. The exam was moderately tough and I was able to crack it as my name appeared in the first list. After the document verification, I submitted the fee to confirm my admission.

Faculty

Faculty All my faculty members were well qualified. They had teaching experiences of more than 10 years. Some of them have been teaching in the university since 25 years. They were very supportive during my filed visits and guided us throughout our course. They cleared our doubts and also took our tutorials to make us better understand the topic. They were amiable and professional at the same time.

My plan is to develop my skills and attain a good job or go for higher studies after degree.
