Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is framed according to the Bar council of India. It is a five year integrated course. It has 10 semesters and each semester has marks for theory as well as practical examination.

Placement Experience

The placement in this college is good. The college look out for the students and assists them for placement interviews. It also has made internship compulsory for the students. They can work in any company of their choice.

Fee Structure And Facilities

As it is a government college, the fee structure has been bare minimum. The total fee charged for the five year course is ?35,000. It can be paid in the beginning of all the academic years depending upon the college.

Campus Life

The college has a well equipped library with reference books, law journals etc. There is also a reading room facility for the students. The college also encourages students to take part in sports activities like football, hockey etc.

Alumni/Alumna

We are the alumni members of the college working as an efficient lawyers. The seniors were good to us. They were helpful and supportive. The college also invites the alumni members at several occasions.

Admission

I had to fill the application form. It can be filled through online as well as offline mode . The college accepts the scores of an entrance examination. It also requires the 10+2 minimum marks of 45% to get through the admission process.

Faculty

The college has appointed great faculty members. They conduct the classes regularly. The college also invites guest faculty to deliver lectures on recent trends related to legal studies. They maintain the healthy learning atmosphere in the class.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
