The admission process includes an entrance examination. This examination evaluates the stusent on Englis language, General Knowlegde and Legal Awareness. The 10th and 12th percentage is also given some weightage. The first merit list students are called for counselling and admission into the course and according to the number of vacant seats, as second merit list is prepared. I had also applied for a B.Sc course in College of Basic Science and Humanitites. However, going for a bachelor's degree in the stream of science wasn't my very choiceand thus, I joined the BA. LLB course.
Course Curriculum Overview
BA LLB (Hons) is an integrated course that offers dual degree. The first two years curriculum covers the Humanitites subjects and few law subjects; while the last three years focuses on only the law subject. The curriculum has included all the major legal subjects and thus overall is designed to make the mot of the five years. There are three permanent faculties but many guest faculties will be dealing with several aspects of law. The batch strength is 60 and therefore, each student gets the required attention. The faculties of the college are highly experienced. The permanent facultites have a post doctoral degree in the relevant subject. The teaching method however, is quite traditional. A student may not find the classes interactive. Every semester, the students are evaluated by an internal test, a viva and a semester examination. The internal test and viva carry a weightage of 10 marks each while the semseter carries a weightage of 80 marks. Scoring marks can be a bit difficult.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fee is fairly reaonable as compared to the other colleges which offer the same degree. The payment is made once a year. Other charges might include, examination registration charges which is levied twice a year. Scholarship, financial assitance or on campus job is not offered by the college. However, the college might notify ou regarding the state government schemes for scholarship.
Campus Life
The annual fest Lexellence, is organized by the students of the college usually in the month of March or April. The fest includes legal as well as cultural competitions. The annual sport events include various the inter semester cricket tournament, futsal, gully cricket and badminton. A inter semester and a national moot court competion is organised in the college, once a year. The college has a moot court society which organizes these competitions. Most of the books referred to in course syllabus can be found in the library. However, someof the subscriptions which might be required for an article submission or moot court competition might not be availed in the library. The classrooms are non-AC but has all the basic amenities to provide essential classroom atmosphere.
