Course Curriculum Overview

Students are encouraged to explore the various narrative forms both in fiction and documentary film-making through rigorous theory classes, and demonstrations are held for better understanding. Students are inspired to discover their artistic vision and develop a better understanding of the cinematic world. Classes are short and practical, there is no pressure but the students themselves show utmost dedication towards the assignments.

Placement Experience

4

The placements are decent. The average placements are around 5-6 lakhs per annum. The college also provides a well established alumni network which helps in placements are internships. A variety of job profiles are offered during placements and the placement rates are also good.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure for the course is manageable. It's not too high considering the value it provides. The total fees for the programme including the hostel charges and various other expenses amounts to around 4 lakh rupees. The fees is to be paid semester wise therefore the financial burden is reduced.

Campus Life

The college provides a plethora of extracurricular activities like football, cricket and basketball. There is a huge field where all these sports are played. An annual cultural fest is also held in this field which is absolutely amazing. The students are pretty nice and friendly, a number of parties are held during the year and everyone has a welcoming nature. The class environment is disciplined but other than that the students are very chill.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of FTII is one of the greatest. It is star studded and has a lot of big names as it's alumna. A few of them being, David Dhawan, Danny Denzongpa ,Rajkumar Hirani,Rajkumar Hirani,Mithun Chakraborty and many more. So the students get the benefits of such big connections to the industry and thus are more motivated to showcase there talent. I have attended a seminar chaired by Mr. Vidhu Vinod Chopra and I really learned a lot from him.

Admission

FTII being a premiere institution in the field of direction had always fascinated me, so I decided to apply for the Three Year PG Diploma Course In Direction & Screenplay Writing. The first step in the admission process is clearing the JET, which I did with a pretty decent score and then came the interview and orientation where I was asked questions about my aspirations post the completion of the course. All in all the admission process is wholesome and tests the students fully.

Faculty

5

The faculty of the college is amazing and the teachers are well versed with innovative techniques to teach the students. The faculty is highly qualified and very experienced in there field of teaching.

TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Capgemini, Wipro, Tech Mahindra – for software roles Larsen & Toubro, Honeywell, Siemens, KPIT, Bosch, Persistent Systems – for core engineering roles (ENTC, Mechanical, IT) Other startups & IT product companies also visit for internships and full-time offers. Highest Package: Around ?24–28 LPA (mainly for CSE/IT students in product-based companies like Goldman Sachs, Amazon, TCS iON, etc.) Average Package: Around ?4.5–6 LPA for core and IT companies, and ?3.5–5 LPA for ENTC students. Each year, over 90% of CSE/IT/ENTC students get placed. Branch-specific placements may vary: CSE usually sees 95–98% placements, ENTC around 85–90%, and other branches slightly lower. I'm planning for higher degree (mtech)

Placement Experience:

The college has a dedicated Training and Placement(T&P) cell and has regular recruitment drives that work to place students in companies where they will be values highly. Each year, 600-700 students are placed from all the branches. More than 300+ companies visit but the ones that hire are limited such as TCS, Capgemini, Infosys, Tech Mahindra which generally are mass recruiters that look for employees that will work for 3LPA or 4.5LPA. The highest packages go to about 30 to 40 LPA domestic and 61 LPA foreign but it is very rare to get a placement like this and requries considerable effort on the side of the student as well. Average package is 7 LPA for CS/IT branch; 5 LPA for electronics and telecommunications branch; 4 LPA for mechanical. My plan after getting the degree is working for 1-2 years while simultaneously pursuing masters.
