Ashar's Review On JSS Law College - [JSSLC], Mysore

The duration of the course is two years, further divided into four semesters. The course is specially designed for those students who want to pursue special specifications in the filed of law such as taxation law, family law, corporate law and governance, insurance law, international trade and business law etc. The subjects which are taught during the two year course are contemporary contracts, constitutional law, Indian commercial arbitration, legal theory etc. We also need to pursue internships after our first year is over.The course provides information about the trademark practices across the world and in India.

The job prospects are very lucrative in this course. The fields where the LLM students can take up relate to trustee, judge, advocate, legal consultant, professor of law, fraud investigator, notary, legal document reviewer etc. The average salary may range from 4 lpa to 7 lpa as per the experience in the relevant field. Internships were also provided by the college under business/legal consultancies with a minimum stipend of 15,000 per month.

The fees for one year is 54,450 which I consider is quite affordable and nominal seeing the fees structure of other college. The grand total for two years 1.06 L. The fees for non Karnataka students for second year is 51,975. You need to separately pay the admission and security deposit amount in the beginning of the first year.

Orientation programs for the freshers is organised by the college. Inter moot court competitions are held once every two months so that the students can get a knowledge of the subject that they are studying.Other activities include nature club activities ( trekking, organizing camps in hilly regions, photo exhibitions) etc, annual cultural fest ( holi, bihu, diwali, Christmas), extensional programs , special lectures and workshops on law culture and business consultancies. Sports an yoga classes are conducted within the college premise so that they can be physically fit & healthily.

Separate hostels for both boys and girls. The girls hostel are within the college campus. The students are provided to 24x7 electricity and water supply, attached bathrooms, good internet connection, laundry facility and air conditioned rooms. The library of the college is well stocked with a lot of newspaper writings, magazines, journals, lexicons, encyclopedia and legal data books. The mess and canteen food is quite good and healthily. Different dishes are prepared according to the cultural fests that are organised in the college. I would rate all the facilities with 4/5.

You need to be a graduate in law with 45 % marks for general category students. 40% for SC/ST/OBC. The admission is strictly based on merit.You need to apply the form online. After the submission of the form and the fess the college will call you up for a screening process. After that you will be granted admission in the college.

The teachers of our course are very humble and friendly. They explain the subjects very clearly and are always ready to answer students doubts. The age group consists of teachers between 45 to 55 years. All of then are professionals in their respective fields which gives us a great opportunity to learn from them and gain some of the insights into the law firms and courts.
