CMC Ludhiana, BPT- Bachelors in Physical Therapy
Reviewed on Jun 16, 2020

Remarks

Studying at CMC is a good experience. It can get hectic sometimes but everyone works hard and is respectful. The course is difficult but intensive and you need to work hard. After graduation, there is a lot of opportunity to obtain jobs easily.

Course Curriculum Overview

The faculty makes the course curriculum stand out. Since CMC is a university and a well-known hospital, there is a lot of opportunities for the students to gain some hands-on experience in the medical field. There is an annual exam each year. There are also many labs and the day usually becomes hectic.

Placement Experience

4.5

There are great placement and job opportunities. Since this is a hospital, there is a great scope for landing jobs. The college also makes an internship a requirement for the students. There are 6 rotations with the internship and the stipend is generally low, but after graduation the range and scope is high.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees are on par with medical colleges. They are expensive but in comparison, most medical schools charge similarly. Fees for BPT course is less than one lakh per year, but other degrees cost from 2 or 3 lakh rupees to 6 lakh rupees. CMC also provides scholarships on merit basis.

Campus Life

There are lots of labs which make our days labored. There's also a lot of parties, which makes student life very fun. There are many seminars and workshops offered to students, and there are many sports activities. There's also debates and essay writing competitions. There are a lot of activities for everyone.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel accommodation is simply superb. The rooms are sharing basis for girls, and single rooms for boys. They have provided a television for students, and a warden keeps charge over the hostel. The annual fees are around 40,000 rupees. Food is also available at the mess at an additional price.

Admission

The candidate applying for the BPT course needs to have taken the science stream in the 11th and 12th. They should have at least 50% marks in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English. After this, they need to take the entrance exam that CMC provides. For Christian candidates, the admission depends upon a Bible Test and the submission of required certificates.

Faculty

4

Faculty is really talented. They know what they are teaching and deliver it in such a manner that all students are engaged with learning. But sometimes the days can get hectic and some faculty may not give due attention.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

The college provides good opportunities to those who are good at academics and for those who are not good at academics chances for them to placement are very low. During the past year, there were very good companies shown in my college for my seniors, some were very renowned companies and the highest package was something 650000.
