A great place to study B.Des

From the first year to the final year, every subject taught is crucial for a proper understanding of the process of designing. It builds from the basics before slowly getting into fashion design. There are specialisations, such as ethnic wear, men's or women's wear, creative patterns or surface adornments, which help us chose a career path. Regular industry visits and field trips, workshops, showcases and projects help us develop our skills.

Some very reputed companies come for recruitment to the college, like national and international brands Swarovski, Wildcraft, Pantaloons, Oppo, Viacom and HP. Many students get lucrative jobs in these firms. Internships are provided as part of the curriculum to provide some real world experience to all the students.

The fee structure is a little expensive. The entire 4-year course costs 18 lakh rupees, without considering hostel or living costs. It certainly isn't affordable for everyone. The facilities and infrastructure are very good, so in a way, it is feasible to an extent, but still expensive.

A variety of cultural events and festivals are celebrated through the year, and activities such as dance, drama and music see healthy participation. Workshops and seminars by eminent individuals are regularly held too help in skill development. Sports is encouraged too, with the campus boasting a football and a cricket ground and basketball and badminton courts as well as a gym.

Hostel rooms are different, at different costs, to fit the capabilities and requirements of every student. Facilities are provided, such as canteen, internet services, study rooms, which contribute towards a good environment.

The alumni network is strong, with loads of former students still connected to the college they passed their Bachelor's from, and their successes are inspiring for us. The seniors helped us navigate the college life, and they always helped us when we asked.

I gave the UID DAT, which is the basis for admission into the B.Des. programmes at UID. UID has a great reputation, as does Karnavati University, to which it is affiliated. Hence, taking admission here was a no-brainer.

The faculty members are qualified, talented and experienced. They know the minute details of the processes and the industry standards and methods. They guide us, help us learn from mistakes and make us understand everything properly, so that we're in the real world, we can do well.
