Remarks

The university was reviewed in 2016 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and given a grade A+. The university offers you many courses to choose from for your research analysis and leaves you with many options open for the future.

Course Curriculum Overview

The TIFR University has Ph.D. programs in all areas of natural sciences which consists of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science. The Ph.D. program that i had opted for was for five-years and mainly consisted of research papers and thesis.

Placement Experience

5

TIFR conducts annual summer internships which introduced students to research activities in the areas of Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics. The selected students have to work on a research project under the supervision of a researcher at TIFR. TIFR also has the Junior Research Fellowship Program and the Project Students Position Program.

College Events

4

The college hosts events such as diwali, saraswati puja, dahi handi, onam, gudi padwa etc. Among the cultural events, the college celebrates founder's day and open days, independence day, republic day etc. Frontiers of science and other scientific outreach programs are conducted too.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee for the doctoral program has to be paid annually to the college. The college being a governmental college does not charge high fees. The fee per year is between Rs.5000-8000 which is very less for a program which has such high level needs.

Campus Life

TIFR has a small, but close-knit family that have gotten accustomed to the place and people, and share a good bond with each other on campus. There are social get together parties organized by the students. The infrastructure and facilities of the college are well kept.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel rooms are single and double sharing, very comfortable and well furnished with community bathrooms and regular drinking water supply for the residents. The mess food is sumptuous and filling.

Alumni/Alumna

A lot of TIFR alumni go on to pursue academic careers in India and abroad, usually starting with postdoctoral positions. Some of them directly join as faculty members. Our Alumni have achieved great laurels in whatever field they have chosen.

Admission

Students are admitted to TIFR through a scrupulous selection process, which involves a written test, followed by an interview of the candidate. Selection is strictly on the basis of merit. Only the top 1.5 percent applicants, scoring the most number of marks, are selected. I was fortunate enough to have cracked the process.

Faculty

4.5

Our faculty of this very well reputed and renowned institute are extremely learned and well deserved their positions in the university. They are respectable people in their fields of practice and are highly literate.

Placement cell is quite good. Students are eligible for placement in their last semester of course. There are many great companies that come like JP MORGAN, EY, KPMG. Average package of the college is 5-6 lacs but there are high packages according to the skills of the student. I'd like to go for master's after BMS. Different kind of roles are there for students to apply according to their interests in all the fields like finance, marketing, HR, consulting. There is training provided by the college for placemens and there is personal training for individual company interviews if required by students.
