Remarks
The good remark about my college is that the Campus harbours a total of 616 plant species comprised of 58 trees, 65 shrubs (including lianas), 357 herbs and climbers (vines) including 9 species of pteridophytes, 22 species belonging to 7 families, Spiders: 17 species belonging to 6 families and mammals: 17 species belonging to 14 families. which was very unique about my college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course was interesting with a good course curriculum. We had 4 modules at the time of studying the course including topics like Wildlife Population Estimation, Wildlife Species and Habitats, Remote Sensing and GIS, Wildlife Management. we had alot of fun while studying the course because it helped us to connect with the mother nature. I was very happy that I got a chance to study in this college.
Placement Experience
Yes, the College organised recruitment drives and we had companies like Komex Europe, Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board, Maharashtra Electricity Board, Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, MoE&F, Govt. of India, National Mineral Development Corporation, Narmada Cements, Narmada Valley Development Authority, National Highways Authority of India, National Hydro Power Corporation, Netherlands Commission for Environmental Impact Assessment, The World Bank, UNEP for the placements. We had an EIA cell specially made for the recruitment.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The course fees were feasible according to the course and it depends on the candidate also, for Indian trainees it was INR 3,52,000 and Foreign participants would require to pay $6600. also in this course fees included local travelling and ca, field gear/stationery and books/study materials everything is included. For the duration of the training, the medical bill reimbursed, if any, will be made by the respective State Governments or Sponsoring Agency.
Campus Life
Yes, In college most activities were related with nature only but it was fun to enjoy those Field Tours activities, we had tours like Wildlife Orientation/Local Excursion, Wildlife Techniques Tour, Wildlife Management Tour. and we have workshops for various national and international conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops . to learn modern equipment like GPS, Rangefinder, radio-tagging, etc and use it for the management of nature.
Admission
If you want to apply for the course of wildlife management then you have to be in in-service Officers of the rank of Deputy Range Officers or Range Forest Officers. I was a Range forest officer in the region of Kumaon, Uttarakhand. That's why it was easy for me to join the course. Also, the age should be below 35 years of age and not more than 45 years for Both Indian and Foreign candidates.
Faculty
The Head of Department for every subject was a PhD holder in each of their respective fields. Our faculty was hired by exam conducted by higher authorities of our college. Some of the best teachers of my time were Dr V. P. Uniyal, Dr Bivash Pandav, Dr B. S. Adhikari, Dr Ruchi Badola are the one who always encouraged me to focus on my studies.
