Remarks
I have always been a student to MAIDS and the college not only makes you a doctor but one of the most polished doctors. The institute follows principles and disciplines with proper code of conduct. The faculty has the best dental doctors from India, brothers and sisters are well trained and helpful. Overall the college infrastructure is good with all basic facilities.
Course Curriculum Overview
The majors in MDS led us perform practical teachings and specialised in our selected areas. The lectures were given theoretically as well as practically. The tests were conducted in the form of internals and externals, results came to determine the scope of each doctor. Curriculum was so designed where we got to know the vaccination knowledge with proper anatomy effects on the human body and also led us to perform learnt matter on patients. Last year was the internship year and we used to assist senior doctors and directors.
Placement Experience
By the onset of third year I was already getting calls from hospitals and private nursing homes for a job. Nursing homes like Clove, Colgate came to offer good salary packages around 5 lakhs per annum. I always wanted to work at MAIDS hospital so I applied there and got my interview call at the package of 6 lakhs per annum given my educational qualifications. The dental career is full of opportunities and growth.
College Events
My college used to host a lot of events including all the festivals, sports day, annual meet. Different students and staff from various backgrounds showed the multitalent they had, many religious people taught others how to celebrate their origin festival. AIIMS led us to let the world see our talent in the PULSE festival.
Fee Structure And Facilities
College fees were very low in comparison to the educational ground and technology it was providing. The first year was INR25,000 with security fees which was collected at the end of third year. The college demands educated students and is completely feasible.
Campus Life
The compass had all the desired labs-computer,technical, medical etc; the playgrounds offered many sports activities like basketball, cricket etc. we came to play at late night including all staff members who had late night duty. The atmosphere was secular with no underlying discrimination. Our labs had all the latest technology with up-to-date equipment , the blood banks were well maintained and chemists had all the supplies of the vaccinations needed. Hospitals like Lok Nayak and Maulana medical college surrounded the campus.
Hostel Facilities
We had separate buildings for men and women were not only students but the staff resided too. The warden used to control the allotted block and had tight security making hostel life safe and sound. The mess had a certain code of conduct with disciplined timings, food was tasty and healthy and always less for the people due to its taste. College gates were closed at 10PM daily and any foreign entry was prohibited from the hostel gate.
Alumni/Alumna
Being an alumni myself, we frequently meet for alumni meets wherein I provide guidance to my junior doctors and help them grow in the field of dental. When I was a student I had my mentor in my senior doctor who was in third year while I took admission and till date I take assistance from him. They all provided us their experiences and point of views to polish the doctor in us.
Admission
I completed my BDS from MAIDS itself and applied for the MDS in Periodontology, after the completion of my 5th year internship. The application form to be filled is All India Dental Entrance Exam. The percentage from the bachelors (50%) and from the entrance (50%) determines the admission out of the limited 16 seats, 2 seats for each specialised course (total 8 majors). I got my name in the second list, after that I was asked to submit my verified documents and photographs along with the fees. The course was 3 years long with the last one as an intern year.
Faculty
I was already a part of alumni and knew my teachers were well experienced and best dental doctors from all over India. Not only the teachers but brothers and sisters were so well trained and educated that as a student they used to guide me. The Head Of Department used to give lectures and tour us around the hospital which led us to know how a professional doctor worked. I gained a lot of confidence while working and studying under such a great faculty.
