Overall itメs a good b-school. For marketing its simply good but for other specialisation a lot needs to be done.Batch size remains a concern, if a downsizing is done now, the college can reach greater heights.
Entrance Preview
I took CAT for seeking admission in the college. Other examinations applicable are GMAT. I scored 96.42 percentile in 2011 for admission in the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
Two year curriculum is divided into 6 trimesters with first and second trimester covering general management subjects. The course for marketing is well designed but finance, operations and HR specialization need more depth. After completion of 1st year, the student is supposed to complete a 2 months summer internship programme.
Internships Opportunities
IMT G conducts summer placements on the campus. Several companies visit the campus for placements. Stipend for marketing companies is very high to the tune of Rs 1 Lakh per month but for finance the highest is Rs 25000 per month only.The college doesnメt see 100 per cent placement for summer internship and some students either opt-out or manage internship outside campus on their own.
Placement Experience
IMT G conducts final placements on the campus. Several companies visit the campus for placements. Salary for marketing companies is high to the tune of Rs 23 Lakh per annum (Domestic), and Rs 33 Lakh per annum (International).For Finance the highest package is around Rs 15 lakh per annum. Profile includes sales, brand manager, research, equity research, investment banking, etc.The college doesnメt see 100 per cent placement during final placements. Generally students who donメt perform well on the academic front are the ones who remain unplaced.
College Events
The B-school organises several events throughout the year. All the events are managed by the students from different clubs, committees, council.Some of the very prominent events which have gained pan India attraction are: Passion, Tatva, Marketing World Cup, and Chakravyuh.The campus organises Indiaメs largest sports event Chakravyuh and see huge participation. Every month 3-4 events are conducted on the campus which are both inter b-school and intra b-school in nature.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The b-school charges currently around Rs 14-16 lakhs for 2 years all inclusive (stay, food etc.). The Return on investment is average.The B-school has tie-up with banks for education loans as well.
Fees and Financial Aid
IMT G provides scholarship to top 3 students of Rs 1 Lakh each in memory of the founder of the institute. It also awards scholarship of Rs 1 Lakh in the memory of a student named Vishit Jain. The award is given on the convocation day to a student who has performed well in all the field including academic, sports, etc.
Campus Life
Campus life in IMT G is amazing. As they say Mumbai never sleeps similarly IMT never sleeps. Many call it as IMT resort. Regular parties, events, sports are organised which keeps you busy and engaged round the clock.Amphitheatre on the campus is a place to vouch for. You can find several section parties organised there with the permission of student council and management.
Hostel Facilities
The b-school has 6-7 hostels on the campus. Separate hostels for girls and boys are there. Rooms are both twin sharing and single. Allotment of single room happens only in second year and it depends on your academic performance as the number of rooms are limited.Mess provides food four times a day with pre-defined menu for every week. It includes everything from salad to sweet dish/ ice cream for lunch and dinner. Non veg is served thrice a week.Breakfast offers wider assortment of options including cornflakes, milk, tea, fruit etc. Snacks is also decent and comes with a drink (lemonade, butter milk, tea, coffee, etc.)
Alumni/Alumna
IMT G has an alumni committee which works for getting projects, internships from Alumni working in different companies. Also they are the interface between the campus and alumni. It connects over 5000+ network of Alumni since inception of the college in 1980s.Chungi nights, 25 year re-union, etc. are conducted regularly so as to make the people feel connected to alma mater.
Exam Structure
Each subject has a mid-term and an end term examination along with 3-4 quizzes (which can be both scheduled quiz or surprise quiz). The mid-term and end-term can be both open book and closed book depending on the choice of the professor. Quiz constitutes for 20% of the overall score and is very important due to relative grading system followed.
Faculty
Faculty of marketing is very good and experienced. They have varied research interest. However, for other specialisation such as Operations, HR, and Finance, more experienced faculty is required.All the faculty holds PhD degree in the college and conduct research work throughout the year. Also faculty are given separate cabins on the campus and they are easily reachable.
