Remarks

The college management is quite strict and helpful to the students. Whenever any incident happens within the college, it takes strict action against the students involved in that. Ragging is strictly prohibited here. Overall the management is able to carry a good impression.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum and exam pattern are decided by the university that is BPUT- the Biju Patnaik University of Technology, headquartered in Rourkela, a city of Odisha. It gets changes in accordance with the current engineering situation and demand in the market. I would say the course is getting inclined towards practicality and emphasizes building technological professionalism in a student. In the B. Tech course, there are 8 semesters in 4 years. In each semester we have roughly 2-3 internal examinations in Trident college. In semester exams, the theory paper has 70% weightage while practical has 30%. Also, the internal exam marks are taken into consideration for the final mark calculation. The results get published on BPUT's official website and in CGPA. You can convert the CGPA to a percentage by deducting 0. 5 from the CGPA. For eg, If you have 8. 5 CGPA, then your percentage is (8. 5-0. 5)*10=80%. The mode of examination is offline and is carried out very strictly and rigorously. The teachers are well experienced and teach according to the exam pattern. If a student attends the classes regularly and pays attention, he/she will definitely find the examinations easy to clear.

Placement Experience

3.5

This college claims one of the best placement records among the colleges of Odisha. The placement process is too good and relevant here. Final year students get fairly good exposure to the recruitment process, pre-placement training, mock interviews, soft skill improvement classes. The day1 company that visits Trident college is TCS and the good thing is that students of every branch can sit in their drive provided they are first division students throughout their career. Apart from that, it invites many other software and core companies. Students get plenty of chances and it's a very good experience for them to face the interviews. This college also conducts off-campus drives where students of this college can go to other colleges to attend the campus placement drives.

College Events

4

Throughout the year, there are various technical, cultural events that keep on happening in this college. There are mainly two big festivals- Tech fest(associated with technical aspects) and TRIFEST(cultural festival). The techfest of this college is officially called UDAYAN and it occurs before the Trifest. The student's participation in the fests is very much open, anyone can participate in these. The tech fest allows students from other colleges too and the winners get cash prizes of a whooping good amount. You can showcase your skills and talents like singing, dancing, mimicking, stand-up comedy, poetry reciting, etc. in the Trident's Got talent event organized year. The TRIFEST is a 3 days long event where the last day evening is called star nite where a popular star of national recognition performs. The festivals are very much happening and one will definitely enjoy these in the 4 years of his/her course.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees in this college are just average like any other good private engineering college in Odisha and are feasible. Trident gives options to pay online or offline through cash or bank draft. In some extreme cases, exceptions can be given to students and extended time for fees submission can be given.

Fees and Financial Aid

I had opted for an education loan from the SBI. It was easy to avail the loans as the bank staff will assist you in getting the loan sanctioned. However, you have to pay the interest rate from the day of loan sanctioning and it differs from bank to bank. Nowadays availing of loans is easier and more convenient. If a student belongs to a low-income group, then he/she can avail of the fee waiver facility also which will be very affordable. And queries related to this can be answered by college administrative faculty.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life in this college is very lively. As you get into an engineering college, students get friendly with each other, they discover different activities and events of their own. Like the college itself is providing many opportunities and platforms, the students can showcase their knowledge and skill. Talking about gender equality, it is fair enough. The ratio differs from branch to branch. For eg, in the mechanical branch, you will find fewer girls and in computer science and IT, you will find less number of boys. But overall the number of boys and girls is not too different.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes I had opted for hostel for first two years of my college. Now the hostels are situated inside the campus boundary. The hostel rooms are quite spacious and well equipped for the students. There are 3-4 person sharing rooms and common washrooms. For both boys and girls, opting hostel would be a safe and better choice if coming from a different city. The hostels have all essential requirements, water and electricity supply, wifi, CCTV camera installed and security person gurading the hostel. As the college is situatted in one of the most happening place of the city, so there are plenty of PG's available for both boys and girls nearby the college. Per person charges would vary from 3000 to 5000 on an average.

Alumni/Alumna

There are few alumni groups on social networking sites where students get engaged with each other and know about themselves. Alumni are always helpful to juniors when it comes to giving advice as they have gone through the same path and can give the best practical way to deal with something, be it placement or higher studies. This college invites its alumni students to some festivals where they can interact with the faculty and students and can share things about themselves.

Admission

This college takes admission on the basis of ranks obtained in the OJEE- Odisha Joint Engineering Entrance examination. Trident is a premiere private engineering college in Odisha. I had a fair good rank in OJEE. We provide our preferred college names and according to our rank, we get selection in any of those colleges. There are 2nd-time selections also where you can get the higher preferred college if that college has some seats vacant. Regarding dates, every year BPUT conducts the OJEE examination and lists out the dates like last day of form submission, date of examination, date of result publication, selection dates, etc. Each year these dates vary but the process can span between June to August. I remember I took admitted into this college on 22nd August.

Faculty

4

The faculty of Trident college is experienced, is having pretty good knowledge in their respective fields. The HODs of each department is a Ph.D. holder. Most of the faculty is not too old and so they are quite friendly too. Student-teacher interaction is quite frequent and easily accessed. One thing you will get from this college for sure is good academic knowledge.

the placement is also not that much great. they are very few companies TCS and Infosys are the mass recuriter here . The core companies are close to null . So you have to go to only to the IT companies that to at a very low package . My students work for as low as 2.5 lac per annum . This year almost everybody was between 3lac to 10lac bracket . The highest on campus package are about 25 lac . Not more than that most of time. and the average package is almost about 3-4 lac per annum . The percentage of the students placed is also really bad . Most of the students have to hurdle by himself.
