Remarks

College management is very supportive and persuade students to be academically driven as well participate in social clubs events and competitions

Course Curriculum Overview

Course structure is very updated and central to industry standards, there have been revisions in the courses in every two year to keep not align with the industry problems and the varied areas of its application. Since there have been major branches related to earth sciences so they are in line with the emerging technology.

Placement Experience

the placements are exemplary with almost every big oil sector firms and mining companies visit to the campus. The list of companies can be found from the placement report available on the college website

Concetto: inter-college technical fest this even gathers a footfall of more than 1000-1200 with students coming to participate from different NITs (National Institute of Technolgy) to IITs(Indian Institute of Technology) and the events are organised over 3 days Srijan: annual cultural festival

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees is at par with all the IITs and it can be easily facilitated with the loans available easily from various banks. The program fees for mine was around 3 lakhs total not including food and personal expenses. Mess food is on top of that and is around 20k per semester.

I haven't availed for any scholarship but there are multiple college as well as corporate scholarships available

Gender ratios is like every other IIT and comes around Boys: girls (15:1). There are multitude of students from different part of the country with different background and cultural values and religions and it gives a wide experience for any student to get to learn from cross cultural relations.

Alumni/Alumna

Almuni network of IIT Dhanbad is supposed to be renowned among all the institutes and is very connected and helpful there are a closed network which a student can be part of once they get admitted to the institute.

Admission

I took IIT-JEE in 2011 to get an admit generally rank within AIR 8000 got a chance to be admitted. The exam is considered to be one of the toughest engineering entrance and there have been only top 1% students who can make it to the Indian Institute of Technology.

Faculty

I would consider the faculty to be very efficient, knowledgable and proficient in delivering the right set of knowledge to the students and persuade the students to only be following what's in books but also emphasise on the application part. Faculties are mostly graduated from NITs and IITs and have completed their PhD from IIT or from foreign university with a strong academic inclination

Campus location is good but there is shortage of shops.
Professor are good and supportive and you can keep bike sk questions whenever you needed.

Dislikes

Mess food is not so good and if you taking hostel it is compulsory to take mess
Transpotation facility is not so good and you

Placement Experience:

From third semester students are allowed for internship and about the placement is about 5 to 6 lpa .Many students here are preparing for government exam like gate ,ies isro ,barc etc. And if you are not satisfied by placement from campus you can try off campus.

At the starting phase of college , we have a beautiful campus (which is not ours actually , its on rent ) loacted at Namkum, Ranchi. known as JUT campus, but after that things are not good.
Some what I liked the sports culture, but we don't have any sports Club yet.

Dislikes

Placements(actually there are students who are the coordinators for the placement group , there is no any particular advisor or any TPO head is there earlier...now there is one TPO coordinator but things are becoming worst there.
No grounds for any sports, we don't have badminton court indoors, so we have to wait for wind to settle before we can play outside.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Actually my branch is Electronics and communication engineering but my major interest lies in development area , i have gained all the skills in my college by my own taking some guidance from the seniors as they are very helpful and supporting. Improvements in course curriculum could be like they have to basically add one more course or any training program to help students for making skills and teaching them for their placements.(apart of the course , i am saying not because i am from ECE department , its common from any branch student)

Likes

I like their rules and regulation of college.
I like the annual sports, event, and cultural program.
Regular classes, labs, and time to time internal exams

Dislikes

Thing that I don't like is hostal cleaning, mesh food.
I think there is more rules and regulation for senior boys hostels.
From senior boys hostel they pass some comment to the girls

The curriculum that influenced my decision to choose this course is the proper mindset from the class I chose to study btech. The areas for improvement in the course curriculum are more labs to be conducted proper smart classes to be held.

Placement statistics In 2024, the highest package offered at BIT Mesra was around INR 52 LPA. The average package offered in 2024 was around INR 17.5 LPA for BTech CSE, INR 16 LPA for ECE, and INR 11.5 LPA for EEE. The placement rate in 2024 was 75% for CSE, 60% for ECE, and 69% for EEE.

I came to this college as a 2nd year lateral entry student . Its a semi government college . The area of improvement include insfarstructure and more faculty member as it has less faculty member than required .

Likes

the greenery of college campus is very nice
the environment of the college is very good
college library staffs are very well behaved

Dislikes

the faculty is not up to the mark , u will not be satisfied by their teaching
student intake is very very less so you will experience less competition
the college campus is beautiful yet very small

Placement Experience:

yes campus placement is offered . the average package is about 7 to 8 lakhs in C.S.E , the placement rate is about 90% for which above 7.5 CGPA is required . The placement rate for E.C.E and E.E.E are also decent .

Experience of an undergrad

Likes

college have great environment good facilities needed as per requirements ,college also have good spacious hostels and we can say better food comparing to what i heard from friends of different colleges ,the evening time is soothing and relaxing
a great senior junior interaction culture and memorable friendships letting you forget the world outside the campus, every festivals are celebrated with joy and fun ,from leaving a family to moving to another one you would love.
some of lectures are quite boring but some will amaze you with visionary thoughts ,every faculty will guide you if they see you lagging behind the course ,some extra sessions are also conducted, introducing new fields to think out of the box

Dislikes

things which i wish might get some improvements are sports facilities big grounds for sports activities students encouragement towards co-curricular activitiy, co-curricular activities get more support to come out with glorious and imagining skills.
fests do contain fun but due to time constraints before fests planning of amazing activities becomes difficult thus leading same things going on repeating, absence of good team leaders leading activities plays major role in activity failure and bored
night out time is a small problem, the area close to college is developing hence not having nearby much places for fun and chillouts spending your free time relaxing.

Placement Experience:

The placements in the college is average as during 2023-24 it was recession period all over the colleges are facing placements lags but still college students managed to achieve 22 lakhs+ off campus as well as 16 lakhs on campus placement.The college reached his highest placement of 51 lakh during 2023 ,the average package is 5-6 lakh and the placements percentage are 85 percent for cse students,the students completing 7th semester are eligible for on campus placement drive as well as off campus,some of the prominent companies visited are Microsoft, cognizant, samsung, byjus,infosys and 50 more.I will prepare for gate and after that i will try to get on and off campus placements which i will find better accept the offer.

From 4 semester onwards you are eligible for placement and internship and most of the students Even get the government jobs and psu and some even in public service commission. The college places 97% of its students.

First year experience in IIT(ISM) Dhanbad

I applied to this college through JoSAA process. I gave my 12th board examinations and qualified JEE mains (98.4 percentile) and JEE advanced. I got admission through JEE advanced rank. In JoSAA counselling , I filled various other IITs and NITs. In my rank ( 19181 in jee advanced general category), the best possible option I saw was this college. The fees were also reasonable. The college is closer to my home and has a glorious history in mining for 100 years. I chose this college over others because it is a very prestigious IIT. It is close to my home too. Also I liked the branch I got here. The admission process of IIT(ISM) Dhanbad in B Tech is through JEE advanced examination after which you need to fill JoSAA counselling. For M.Tech you need to qualify GATE examination. The overall admission experience was good. Earlier I was anxious as the whole system seemed a little overwhelming but the process was smooth. I have applied for many colleges like IIT Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Hyderabad,Indore but at my rank I got this college also I was having a choice of good branch otherwise I would have got top IITs. Jai Maa kali ISM bhaukali

My category rank in jee advanced was 1182 so I am getting top IIT like Bombay and delhi but with lower branch and I want to opt branch like cse and ece so I fill the councelling list accordingly and I get IIT ISM Dhanbad. Review of IIT ISM DHANBAD

Firstly my dream is to go to IIT college because of its good placement and very big and beautiful campuses with all facilities. Secondly since my rank is 9k in jee advance . My first priority is circuital branch in first generation IIT so I prefer IIT ism Dhanbad electrical over computer science branch in second or third generation IIT . Secondly since I love physics I want to pursue that type of courses where logically thinking involved. Admission process is easy there is one portal name as jossa where you have registered yourself and then you need to fill the priority of college and branch according to your priority and rank you got college there will be 6 round in that if you don't got good college in first round go for further chances will be high you got good colleges. My suggestion is to consider both branch and college during filling the priority of your college selection since it will impact further during placements.
