Remarks
Good - Awesome memories, helpful faculties, carefree life. Bad - Placement is really bad.
Course Curriculum Overview
Regarding DIATM, I can assure you that examinations are very authentic and strict. Yes, WBUT is lagging behind in the course curriculum, but overall it makes you market ready at least for the CSE and IT Branch. We had 2 Internal exams which were like 30% of the end sem and out of the 2 internals our faculty used to send the BEST OF 2 marks to the University. for Practicals it was totally internal to DIATM and mostly everyone used to get very good grades in Practicals.
Placement Experience
TO be honest, this is the worst part. Placement is not good. In 2014, only 14 students made it to MNC (2 on Campus, 12 offcampus / pooled campus). You have to prepare hard as soon as you go to 4th Year. Study wise try to keep up to date from 2nd year and as soon as you reach 4th year start preparing for aptitude tests.
College Events
Event wise very less. List below from most interesting to least interesting in order. 1. Scimentek (Cultural and Technical FEST) 2. NEN (National Entrepreneurship Network) 3. Saraswati Pooja 4. Vishwakarma Pooja 5. Inter-Year and Inter-Department Cricket Tournament.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Initially during counselling You need to pay around 10k to WBUT and 5k to DIATM. This 5K goes to your 1st Year fee and once you physically come to college foe admission then rest amount needs to be given. Generally the fee is comparatively very less with respect to any other private engineering college. There are some hidden money also to be spent. 1. Books (You will get books from the book bank, but that will never be sufficient, hence better to for each subject buy books in shared basis along with roommate) 2. Laptop (College fees doesn't include that) 3. Report Sheets (assignments and practical reports are to be submitted in this only which you will have to buy your own, my time per sheet costed 50 paise). 4. During 1st year need to buy items for Engineering Drawing.
Fees and Financial Aid
Not sure, I didn't opt for any Loan or Scholarship. As far as I know there was some sort of scholarships for OBC/ ST/ SC.
Campus Life
Gender Ratio was perfect. Faculties are very helpful. Campus Life is also good. Canteen Food was awesome. Students are mostly from Bengal, Bihar, Assam, and Jharkhand. The gym is also good. at least all essential types of equipment are there. DIATM has a very big Library.
Hostel Facilities
Yes. Hostel rooms are shared. 1st Year and 2nd Year is 4 sharing and then 2 sharing. Rooms are ok kind not properly cleaned. But the washrooms are very properly cleaned all the time. Food is okay, at least better than South Indian hostels.
Alumni/Alumna
We have a Facebook Alumni network also we have a whats App group. we are well connected and always share thoughts and job openings.
Admission
I gave WBJEE exam in 2010 and got 33443 rank in it. I was eligible for CSE Department and I was anyways keen to get a degree on CSE so I immediately opted it. For the process I had to go to Kolkata, Salt Lake stadium where the concelling was happening. Now a days everything is Online.
Faculty
CSE and IT Faculties are fairly GOOD, the only problem is Coding Practice and the mentality to do more coding is less. The emphasis is more on getting Marks (Which mostly includes Theory). However, smart people are everywhere and can easily learn coding by themselves.
