Remarks
The college is really very good but I have a few areas where it could do better- 1) More transparent placement process 2) More student driven policies 3) Better guidance and personal support for faculties
Course Curriculum Overview
First of all the PGPM course is a pretty good tradeoff if you want a highly efficient and quick MBA as it is a one year course. When it comes to the curriculum, it is very interactive with a high class faculty and obviously a highly intense course where you will find yourself running out of time almost everyday. The visiting faculty are from one of the best Bschools worldwide which in turn gives you an opportunity to learn from the best business leaders. The Exams are very large in number with a quiz, a mid term and an end term for each subject which sums to almost 28 exams per term( there are total of 7 terms)
Placement Experience
The placements here are pretty decent I would say with an average package of 10lpa and highest being 28lpa. The placements here are driven by a number of factors which include- the number of years of work ex, the role of previous work ex and the performance in the GD/ Interview
College Events
So there are many small events which are planned like Independence Day, Republic Day, Onam, Holi, Diwali, and frequent open mics, karaoke sessions, football matches, basketball, cricket, volleyball, and a lot more. Then there are two big events that is the FEST and the PAISA VASOOL.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I would say it is feasible for an MBA as the average fee for IIMs and top colleges is above 20 lacks per annum. Also the return on investment was quite good compared to the top Bschools. The loan process makes the admission process quite streamlined.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
I took a loan. the college will provide assistance and contact person for the concerned bank. You can go ahead and approach the bank you want. It will be a mortgage free loan.
Campus Life
The campus life is good with all sorts of extracurriculars both cultural, sports and tech events happening throughout the year. Also there a number of opportunities for case study competitions which are conducted by the top corporates. The gender is good I would say but obviously not equal. The cultural diversity is a mix up of people from almost every state in the country.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, it is compulsory to go for hostle as it is a very intense and impossible to manage from outside the campus. I must say the hostle as well the college infrastructure is one of the best campuses in India. The hostles have single room for girls and both single and double occupancy for boys. It is very clean with regular house keeping staff, AC, study table, etc.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumns are highly supportive and very good mentors. The is also an alumni meet which is organised for us to meet our seniors and discuss our problems.
Admission
To get admission to GLIM, the student needs to have a cutoff score in the management entrance exams like CAT, GMAT, CMAT, XAT, etc. Once the cutoff is cleared, the student will be called for an interview which would be a face to face discussion. There will also be an essay writing which is to be done before the interview. The cumulative performance of the student in the management exams, the essay as well as the interview leads to the final selection. There are two cycles for admission- Novemeber and January.
Faculty
The faculty of college are mostly industry experts who have worked in the top corporates for more than 15-20 years on average which gives them an upperhand when it comes to imparting practical knowledge. Also, there are many visiting faculties who belong to the top Bschools worldwide and act as an icing on the cake by bringing to the table the international skills and expertise.
