Remarks
The food is not great since non vegetarian food is not part of the menu However, non vegetarian food can be bought which is quite good.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is quite similar to most b schools and is being handled by quite experienced professors. Most courses are research driven and relevant. A few courses like strategy and marketing management have been industry specific while a few have been mostly theoretical. There has been just one industrial visit in the first year but there are guest lectures by industrial experts every Thursday.
Placement Experience
Great Lakes boasts a 100% placement every year. The top companies that visit include McKenzie, Amazon, Ninkacart, Dell, MindTree, BigBasket, ITC, Nestle etc. The general steps include an aptitude test, group discussion, interview in that order. We have placement committee held activities every Thursday which either consists of lectures provided by industrial experts or placement process for internship/final placements based on the year. There are mock GD and mock interview to prepare the students for placements.
College Events
The events are conducted by the various committees including Marketing, Finance, Events, Consultancy, Placement, Entrepreneurship Committee etc. While most committees organize relevant events, it's hard to make the students attend them since attending additional lectures can be hectic after class. However, event committees programs for various cultural festivals usually have good participation.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The total fees for the course are Rs 16,50,000. They accept loans and the mode of payment is NEFT, IMPS etc. There are no additional fees since sitting in the admission process and qualifying is the only way to avail the admission. The college does have a transparent fee breakdown.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did not avail a loan. There are no scholarships for the college. However, if you come in the top 10 you get price money.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is quite good, there are equal boys and girls in the college. We have various events held by the student committees. Dorm parties are quite common since it's a residential college. Since it's one of the top b schools in India, there are students from all across the country. However, since the fees are high the economic status might not be that diverse, I assume the students belong to the middle class to the upper class. However, there are students from both rural and urban background. With respect to religion, mostly Hindu festivals are celebrated. Christmas is the only non Hindu festival that's celebrated. There are no students from transgender or transexual community in the college that I know of.
Hostel Facilities
It's a residential college and everyone including faculty and staffs stays inside the campus. The hostel is quite good, there is air conditioning and the rooms are shared by 2 students. There is good ventilation and the rooms are spacious. There is a common washroom for each floor which can be seen as a negative issue. However, the rooms are clean and all the infrastructural issues are resolved efficiently in an online ticket raising process. A fraction of our fees go to accommodation.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors and the juniors had quite a good relationship in the previous year. Since this year the classes are expected to be online for a long time chance for interactions are lesser. There are alumni meet annually where the alumni come to college.
Admission
I chose this course since I'm a business undergraduate and hence wanted to pursue MBA from a reputed b-school. I got shortlisted based on my cat percentile after which I had an interview. I was waitlisted and admitted later. The interview was in April 2019 and I got my acceptance letter in June. The college commenced on Jule, 2020
Faculty
There might be around 40-45 full time faculty and over 100 visiting faculty for various courses. The average age of professors might be around 40 and assistant professors could be around 30. All the professors are PhD holders and most have experience in their field. While most professors are quite providing clarity about their subject, a few find it difficult to engage the students
