Remarks
It is the second ranked Medical College in the state. This is the second oldest Medical College in state set up in 2001. The college is located in the center of the city. It has an area covering 25 acres with an additional setup of 45 acres being built up at Koni. A 700 beded hospital is attached to the college and also has a large auditorium for academic functions.
Course Curriculum Overview
The teaching is good with clinical exposure in the hospital. Regular classes and practical are being held up. The facilities are very experienced with some having more than 20-25 years of experience. Regular Internal exams are held for continuous evaluation.
Internships Opportunities
After the completion of 4 and a half year course there is a Compulsory Rotatory Internship in all the clinical departments. The stipend in ?12000/month mostly paid at the end of the year as a lum -sum amount by Govt. of Chhattisgarh.
Placement Experience
After the completion of course there is one year round compulsory Internship in all clinical departments. After this there is a 2 year Rural Service Bond. Each and every student from college gets a Govt. job and is also free to work in private sector.
College Events
Cultural events are held round the year like on Republic Day, Holi, Independence Day, Tree Plantation Drive, Teachers Day, Christmas, New Year Celebration. A annual fest 'Rhythm' is organised every year which is the heart and core of cultural events. The entire college participates and blooms for 7 days with a hectic list of competitions, fun, dance and music, and ofcourse the movie night
Campus Life
The complete campus is equipped with Wifi setup(JioNet). The campus also has a basketball court, volleyball court and badminton court. Futsal and Cricket are also played. The college has a Central Library with a long list of books, journals including foreign authors. The best part of Library is that it is self accessible without any interference from any staff. The labs of every department is well equipped but it does lags behind in some instruments and practicals.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is not good, Rooms are crowded and dirty. 3-4 students are punched in 2 seater room. The bathrooms and toilets are very dirty, some without locks of doors. Firstly it is very difficult to get a room in hostel due to limited space.
