Remarks
I attended this college because this is one of the best engineering colleges in Goa in terms of faculty and placements. The fees are also less compared to other colleges in the state.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Electronics and Telecommunication because it is flexible in terms of fields and jobs. I can either go into software (ex.ML, AI) or hardware field (ex.pcb fabrication). Whereas in computer engineering, IT mostly software jobs. The faculty: student ratio is ok. We are taught mostly by the senior faculty and partly by contract faculty. The first internal test is after 16 weeks from the start of the semester and the second internal test is after 8 weeks from the first IT. The semester theory exams take up almost a month with practical exams afterwards. It is not that difficult task to pass the exams provided that study is done regularly. Sometimes though teachers can't finish the syllabus and it becomes self-study for students.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies offer internships to students. Either the internship is held in the college itself or off-campus.
Placement Experience
From semester 6 the students become eligible for placements. Minimum 60% (average of preceding semesters) is needed for placements. The percentage of students getting place varies every year. My plan is to get a good-paying job and also to do MTech degree. I'm in third year currently, will be going to final year in August/September once this COVID situation gets litter better. The placements have not yet started because the college has not yet reopened.
Fees and Financial Aid
For the general category, the fees are around 27000/-Rs per semester. For semester exams the fees are around 3800/- Rs. There's a minimal hike after every semester. But if a student fails an exam the cost for verification of the paper is very high (about 550/- Rs as of now) and increases every semester.
Campus Life
There is an annual cultural event called 'Happenings'. A technical event called 'Spectrum' happens but it's not held annually. There's an interdepartmental event called 'Tandav' is also held. Books are readily available in the library but library membership is a must. At the start of a very odd semester, qualification tournaments are held for different sports. There's also extracurricular activity like NSS. There are some clubs run by students like robotics club.
