Remarks
Management could definitely be better. Sometimes students are out of sync with the management. The current management head is very unfriendly and is biased. Many situations have led me to this conclusion. Otherwise, other faculty and facilities are quite good and respectable.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus is well in sync with industry knowledge. However it can be improved in areas of practicality and scalability. The curriculum has additional subjects such as Sociology and Business Communication which teach you behavior and etiquette. An industrial visit to the HAL Aeronautical Museum, where our teachers demonstrated various practical applications of the knowledge gained in class. This was a very beneficial and a wholesome experience.
Placement Experience
We have an upcoming internship at IIT-Kharagpur where we will learn about advanced machines in our domain. However, there is not enough support when it comes to placements and will have to be individually looked for. Companies such as Mahindra-Aerospace and Millenium Aerospace have recently visited the campus recruiting students. The institution has organizes campus placement training for students, usually few weeks before the recruitment.
College Events
Our college FEST(Infinity) takes place every year in a very grand fashion. It is the biggest of the many and students all over Bengaluru participate in it. Other than the inter-college events there are intra-college events are specific to intrest such as music, dance, drama and sports.
Fee Structure And Facilities
For Aerospace Engineering course the fee is 195, 000. The fees is reasonable and on par with other colleges. Fees can be paid in cash, debit or credit card, cheque and demand draft. Other than transaction charges there is no other charges. transparency in the fee-breakdown is provided when asked.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have not availed any scholarship. The institution in accordance with The Government Of India every year there are scholarships for certain castes, other aren't benefited.
Campus Life
Our campus has a very lush green landscape with large open spaces and fresh air, being located on the outskirts of the city. The gender ratio is balanced in few courses. In others there is a high male to female ratio, such is the case in mine. Extracurricular activities are given importance and serves as a major way to develop your in-college social life.
Hostel Facilities
No I have not, although I was a temporary resident. The hostel rooms are quite neat and well maintained. Toiletries and plumbing is no issue. There is 2-sharing and 4-sharing with fees 80,000 and 120,000 respectively.
Alumni/Alumna
Very friendly and approachable seniors as well as alumni. Every year there is a student alumni meeting set-up where we can clarify any doubts.
Admission
Jain University organizes their own entrance exam every year(named JET). Once I wrote the exam I was short-listed and called for an interview by the Associate Director. I was questioned on various aspects such as previous education, marks obtained, hobbies, extra-curricular. I was extremely comfortable while answering these questions and the interviewer structured it such I wouldn't say otherwise. This University has a vibrant atmosphere and great appreciation for extra-curricular activities. Apart from this the faculty and the lab facilities are quite good.
Faculty
Most of our faculty are award winners, with at least 10 - 15 years of industry experience. There are approximately 30 teachers with average age of 40 and each have at least a Master's Degree. The student:faculty ratio is 20:1 which is good. Our faculty is led by the ex-director of HAL who is a Padma Shree Awardee. Simply put we are in capable hands.
