Remarks

At first it may seem a very lenient college/administration, especially when the rival medical colleges in Mumbai are very strict but over the years you realize that it was for the better and the other college students suffer of inexperience, bookworm culture and unknown of "duniyadari".

Course Curriculum Overview

4

MBBS course is of 4.5 years with an year of compulsory internship. The course is quite interactive with lectures, seminars, practicals, in field postings, tutorials. Patient interaction is made possible from the second year itself which helps tremendously over the years to develop better knowledge of diseases and work experience.

Placement Experience

5

1 year internship is to be done. Students from other colleges can also apply. More than 100 such externs come from other colleges to gather work experience in this college, including overseas undergraduates.

College Events

5

1. Annual cultural event- Astitva (4 days event, includes concerts by renowned singers like Ankit Tiwari, Neha Kakkar; talk shows with eminent people like Anna Hazare, Rakesh Maria; highly decorated doctors talks, dance, fashion show, stand up by professional artists like Zakir, Kenny etc. And a lot more) 2. Annual Marathi Cultural event- Antarang boasts of Marathi celebrities with fashion show, dance and talk shows Cultural events take place at college gymkhana on seaside, Marine drive. 3. Auxesis- Academic event with renowned speakers and doctors with plenty of workshops to refine your skills 4. Kurukshetra - sports event for a week. Inauguration by renowed athletes/cricketers. Besides these, events like dandiya, freshers, republic day event, Marathi divas, etc are celebrated.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a govt medical college, fees are very affordable. Open candidates pay a sum of around 1 lakh per annum whereas for reserved candidates it is just 12-15k per annum. Fee structure is transparent and account/academic section provides all details regarding it.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't opted any, but govt offers a range of scholarships to backward classes. Private scholarships are also available.

Campus Life

5

Gender ratio is fairly equal with even females being more than males in gew batches. College has a 44 acre campus in the heart of Mumbai, just 10 mins distance(bike/car) from CSMT. With a lot of events regularly conducted by the student's association, in elite gymkhana at Marine drive served with dinner and snacks in between, with discotheque at the end, parties no longer have the previous definition but are certainly grander than you could've imagine. Dance clubs, book club, writer's club and much more offer you complete personality development and rich college experience. People of all sexual/political/ethnic/racial orientation enjoy their college life here without any opposition There are plenty of opportunities to study abroad in form of student exchanges, work packages.

Hostel Facilities

5

Yes. Hostels are spacious, recently renovated. You can get a single room second year onwards. Hostel fees are 4k/annum which is the least one could expect. Hostels have their owm canteen which is fairly decent.

Alumni/Alumna

Being a medical college, senior junior interaction is very strong and over the years, you become a part of a 1000 student family which encompasses all semester students, from a newbie to the final year/internship students. Alumni network is also very steong and are always ready to help when required.

Admission

Admission is through NEET-UG exam, generally taken in 1st week of May every year. The admission is based on merit list and you've to come in first 1000 AIR to get admission. My aunt, being an alumnus of this college and a very successful doctor, had told me about the academics and more importantly the way this college moulds one's work attitude and personality. Other renowned medical colleges in Maharashtra (KEM, NAIR, SION) don't do much on the personality development part and are excessively focused on academics that they're just another form of schools. Hence, I choose this college for my graduation.

Faculty

4.5

They are quite renowned doctors with heavy experience. They've excellent insights of this profession and how to handle situations in times of crisis. They impart all that knowledge to students. There are 19 subjects and each subject has almost/more than 10 faculties whose age varies between 30-60. Newly post graduated are also there to help you with better understanding of the subject and connect better with the students.

Remarks:

Positive: The college's infrastructure is really good. Negative: Being a private medical college, a lot of money is charged and they even earn extra money by charging unnecessary numerous times, very expensive admission forms and other expenses. Faculty is okay, selected few are only good. It is placed in a town which isn't well developed (Ahmednagar) There could be more extra curricular events and less restrictions for students living in the hostel, but there aren't.
