Remarks

Good college. If you get this college, take it straight away.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

To be frank, MBBS is a vast subject. We have to start reading from the first year itself. Only if pass the first year exams, then only we can move to 2nd year. There is no arrear systems which is there in engineering exams. In the first year, there will be only theory and practical classes. From the second year, we have to go to hospital in the morning and the theory and practical classes will be there in the afternoon. Once we pass the final year ( 4th year) exams, we have to do to one year of internship which is nothing but CRRI. As we have started seeing the patients from the second year, we can gain enormous knowledge and we can easily become a very good doctor in future.

Placement Experience

4.5

This is a medical college and there is no such things like placements or campus interview. After passing the final MBBS exam we have to do one month of internship. For that the stipend will be provided. Only after completing the internship, the degree certificate will be provided. We have to register in Tamilnadu medical council to become a registered medical practitioner. After that we can practice on our own. To get a government job we have to write MRB competitive exam. To get post graduation seat we have to write NEET PG competitive exam.

College Events

4

Our college celebrates both inter College and intra College sports and cultural events as well as many inter College quiz competitions. The council batch (3rd year MBBS students) will organise the events. The intra college sports and cultural event is called VAANAVIL. The inter College sports event is called AADUKALAM for which participants from all over Tamilnadu will participate. The inter College cultural event called PRADHARSHINI is one of the the best culturals in Tamilnadu. The inter College quiz competition called KWESTOMANIACS and MEDRENALINE is a national level medical quiz for medicos.

Fee Structure And Facilities

This is a Government medical College. The fees will be only 12,000 during the admission. From the second year the fees will be only 6000 per year. Other than that we have to pay exam fees which will be 1500 rupees per subject. Si, the exam fees will be 4500 rupees for 1st and 3rd year and 6000 rupees for second and final year.

Fees and Financial Aid

We can avail scholarship, if our family status is low. Scholarship is issued by the government of Tamilnadu. We have to fill the scholarship form and submit it in the college office. The scholarship amount will be around 10000 rupees per year which will be credited to our bank account.

Campus Life

4

As I said earlier, we can enjoy the college life very well. This is a Co-ed college and there will be both boys and girls. Everyone will interact to each other equally and there will be no such things like gender bias, racism, politics etc. At the same time we have to study properly. There is a library inside the college campus which we can utilise. Our college has one old famous banyan tree where we are all one of its aerial roots.

Hostel Facilities

4

Yes, I was in hostel from the first year till my final day in Kilpauk medical College. The hostel rooms will be shared by three students in first and second year and two students in third and final year. The hostel will be separate for male and female. The hostel room will be provided for everyone if needed. There will be washing machine, water heater, recreation hall, gym where you can enjoy the hostel life. The mess fees will be around 3000 to 4000 per month. The hostel fees is thousand rupees per month including water and electricity charges.

Alumni/Alumna

Our college will conduct alumini meet known as VIZHUDHUGAL every year and most of the alumni will participate in that event where we can interact with each other and enjoy the day. Our college also have alumini building, where anyone can go and visit at any time.

Admission

During the year 2013, the admission for MBBS course is by the direct plus two cut off marks. But, now it is based on NEET entrance exam marks. I have chosen MBBS because this was my dream course. Kilpauk medical college is one of the top 5 medical colleges in Tamilnadu. During my days, at first we have to manually get the MBBS application form from any of the medical colleges all over the Tamilnadu. then we have to fill the form and send it to the the DME office Chennai. Then after few weeks, the counselling will start and we can choose the medical colleges according to the merit list.

Faculty

5

In the First year MBBS there will be three subjects which is known as preclinical subjects. These three subjects have three separate departments and each department has one HOD, one associate professor and 1 or 2 assistant professors. The theory classes will be usually taken in PowerPoint and for the practical session the students are divided into multiple small batches and each faculty will take care for one small batch on that day. The second year that will be four subjects which is known as paraclinical subjects. Theory and practical classes will be similar to the first year. The third and final year are called clinical subjects. The practical classes will be taken in the respective departments in the hospital side along with the patients in the morning. The theory classes will be there in the afternoon. For each year there will be around 250 to 300 hours of lectures for each subjects.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It deals with patient care and clinical diagnosis along with hands on training the influenced my decision to take up this course. Through ward postings, history taking and case discussion it prepares me well for my PG exams and further future pursuits. Skill based learning should be emphasised more along with small group teaching. Sometimes the close spacing of exams can be very stressful. Difficulty level is appropriate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course is very challenging obviously as we're studying to become doctors. it could've been better by increasing the duration of the course. our first year/ semester instead of it being for 12 months was only of 9-10 months so our portions are being pushed a little. it happened due the scam etc around neet and our course start date was pushed. the course could be made easier by increasing the duration of the course. we have exams every week which does make it easier to keep up with the portions but makes it too stressful for us. maybe instead of keeping exams on monday they could change it to saturday so we can relax and be free on sundays.

Placement Experience:

The students in their internship will get around 35000 per month excluding their mess fees, they have the option to opt out of the mess. And once they finish their internship they had to do two years bond in places where the colleges allot them and the salary for those two years will be decided by the place the person goes and itll be definitely more than what they get during internship.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The college strictly follows NMC rules and which is a very good thing as it helps us prepare for both theory and practical as theory give u the vast knowledge and practical allows us to imply what we learnt and also after the new rules of introducing histology we can also apply the idea of more creativity in a field a lot of creativity is yet to be unfolded they also cover important aspects through regular workshops and educate us with guest lectures from other colleges the important improvement which should be done is having the patience to teach a. Crowd of 250 which teachers should undergo special 2-3 classes to make sure they know what they teach is being reached out to everyone the timing of exam and everything is on time theh give us enough time to prepare and get ready
