Remarks

Overall the experience of college was good. I got an in-depth look into the IT world. My knowledge about the various fields of study was enhanced. I am a better professional only due to my college experiences.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is quite rigorous. Students are trained from semester 1 till semester 8. Different subjects have different labs. Students study extensively and the teachers are quite helpful during the whole ordeal. Timely notes are provided and the assessment is based on Sessionals. To score a good percentage, one needs to have a minimum of 75 percent attendance and decent scores in the sessionals which happen after every quarter.

Placement Experience

3

The placement scenario is okayish in the college. Only a handful of companies visit the college campus. The recruiters usually look for students who are scoring above 60% and are possessing less than 2 backlogs. The recruitment process is usually smooth and the interviews aren't that much strenuous. Many students tend to opt out of joining, since the package offered is very menial and the amount of work to be done is on higher side of the spectrum.

College Events

4

There is only one techno-cultural fest which is organised usually in the month of march. Students need to contribute from their own pockets to help organise it. Many guest singers are usually approached for performing in the fest. There are other small events taking place such as tug of war, symposiums etc. Students are awarded certificates of merit once they win in some events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is quite feasible compared to other private colleges outside J&K. The whole course will cost approximately 3 lakhs if you include transportation facilities among other things. The fest costs around 1000 rs and if any other activity is organised, students need to pay for it accordingly.

Fees and Financial Aid

No I didn't avail it. I was a General category student who got admitted to the college only on the basis of merit. I availed no sort of scholarship or assistance in order to study the course in college.

Campus Life

3.5

The gender ratio of the college is quite balanced. There are little to none extra curricular activities. In order to perform any extra curriculars, the student needs to do everything on their own. Debates, Symposiums etc. take place only during fest. The daily routine is 8-2 just like school.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

No I didn't opt.for the hostel facility as I was a day scholar. Many students don't opt for the college hostel facility but tend to live in PGs nearby the campus. The hostel is equipped with beds and eating via mess. Overall I haven't heard much positive reviews about the hostel from the residents. Only the students who are in desperate need for accommodation tend to stay there.

Alumni/Alumna

The college charges the students to be a part of the alumni network. The network isn't of much help.

Admission

Qualified JKCET to enter the college. After the counselling in Bahu Plaza, Jammu went on to join the college in August 2014 after the induction ceremony. There were 180.seats each. 180 from JKCET and 180 from college's quota. The admission process was smooth. Fees need to be submitted into the bank which was inside the college campus only. Once the draft got approved, they gave a copy to keep as record for the paying individual. After all is said and done, the certificates of class X and class XII have to be deposited to the admission team. Once they approve all the said documents, the admission is granted to the student.

Faculty

4.5

For the first 6 semesters the students need to study 6 subjects and have 6 teachers. The first two semesters are common for all branches. In the last two semesters there are 4 subjects, so 4 lecturers are there. The labs have separate labs assistants to assist you in studying. Overall the teachers are quite knowledgeable and help the students in completing the syllabus on time and providing good lectures on their respective fields of study.

Placement Experience:

Students from the uth and 8th semester are eligible for placements. Companies offering packages about 10 lakhs come in the college. Out of 10 ,at most 5 students get the placement easily from the campus.

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Just one company visits and that too isn't up to the mark. Its PISOFT. The highest average package in our campus was 6lpa earlier. Now that also doesn't exist. We have to go for off-campus placement. Only 4 students out of a batch of 63 students. After getting the degree.I will apply in a company for a job via off-campus placement.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course of CS cyber security is one of the leading course and need of today's modern world. Cyber crime is increasing with each passing day so demand for such course will never go down. For real world application students are given practical knowledge with well maintained computer labs. Students are motivated by organising competitions like hackathon, Techfiest etc so that they work on innovating new ideas. Teaching methods are very practical. Every topic is taught keeping thought of future competitive exam. More time is given on teaching the skills be it coding or assignments.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course as I completed my diploma in mechanical so I pursue this and talking about the faculty-student ratio, it is quite good as 2 teachers are there for every subject, so in a recent update, they made it compulsory for every teacher to have an M.tech degree and the teaching method is quite good and some of them are really good, so the exams were taken by Jammu University, the timing of sessional exams are taken every 1 and half months and it is done twice in the semester but the result took a lot of time.

Remarks:

It was the only state government run engineering college. So it was pretty obvious that the cut-off and competition to get into GCET was more than any other private college in the state. Right from the reputed and experienced faculty to the soft fee structure of the institute, it was a go to college for me or anybody else in the state. Upon joining, i opted for the mechanical engineering course because that had been my dream course, if i was to go for engineering.

College is quite good academic-wise but there is a lack of sports facilities. And the hostel facilities and the college fee are quite expensive. The college infrastructure is quite good and mesmerizing. College teachers are really very helpful.
