Remarks

The college overall is a good option for life science students, though wouldn't recommend it for physical science students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum is relevant for building up a future microbiologist and is often research oriented. Students who really wish to have a successful career in microbiology can choose The Oxford college of science without any second thoughts. The course is more job oriented and provides workshops and seminar lectures by professional experts in respective fields. Department also provides industrial visits for students to various industries around India.

Placement Experience

4

Though many colleges have limited number of companies coming for interviewing life science students, the Oxford college of science have seen and inflow of reputed companies for interviewing their students. Companies like Cipla, Biocon etc are few notable ones.

College Events

4

Every year, the college hosts interdepartment feats as well as intradepartment fest. Oxfoingite is the college fest and Micromania is the Microbiology department fest. Both are conducted with great pride and are grant in their own ways. Fests include sport events, cultural events, arts and also lab and course oriented events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure for BSc is feasible considering the fact that you are in for a triple major course, ie, you are being trained on 3 different subject in the course of 3 yrs and is awarded degree certificates for the 3 subjects. Fee structure for MSc is feasible when admission is taken via University, ie, merit seats. Management seats are often more expensive as in any other colleges around the globe.

Fees and Financial Aid

I Have opted for educational loan from bank. They provide you with DD at the starting of every year, which is to be repaid after one year of the completion of the course.

Campus Life

4

Campus accomodates students from all around India. There are more students from Northern India than from the southern part. The teaching and non teaching staffs as well as students are very welcoming to all the students from all ethnicities. College also has numerous international students.

Hostel Facilities

4

I have opted to stay in PG. The average rent for a 3 sharing PG around the college is 7k-8k. PG is always a better option as it gives more freedom than hostel. You are also provides with 3 times food (2 times on some PGs), free WiFi connectivity and TV.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is very active and conducts alumni meets. Passed out students maintain a good relationship with the faculties and are ready to help students who are currently studying in the college.

Admission

I got the admission via Bangalore University counseling procedure. Anyone with a bachelor's degree in any biological/ life science courses can apply. Admission is through University is purely based on merit, wherein students who had completed their bachelor's degree from Bangalore University is given preference. Non-merit/management seats are also available but will get filled up fast and is much more expensive. I chose the institution as it's microbiology department is very good. I did my bachelor's degree from the same college and found it to have better faculties and facilities than other colleges.

Faculty

5

Faculties of Microbiology department are highly qualified and have good teaching experience. They are extraordinarily good at handling both theory and practicals. Department ensures they have a least of 10 faculties in total. 75% of the faculties are either Doctorals or have an appreciable experience in teaching college students.
