Course Curriculum Overview

4

The college comes under the ministry of AYUSH so undoubtedly the course teach us the importance of indigenous methods of Ayurveda and patanjali in curing diseases. The course is not very tough and it's quite amusing to learn the traditional methods.

Placement Experience

3.5

The college provides internhsip in the department of attached hospitals and centres of ayurveda where we treat patients of chronic diseases such as migrane. Seeing them getting better on their health with our efforts gives very much happiness.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee for the course is not very feasible. The college charge very high fee for the programme. For the work that we do we get stipend which we utilise for paying the fee of the college and also other purposes.

Campus Life

3.5

The college organise many international and national conferences on various topics which help us gain experience and exposure. Many sports events are also organised to keep us fit and healthy while we prepare to be doctors.

Admission

The college conducts an entrance exam for admission to MS or MD. We have to prepare for the test beforehand as it is quite tough. The college provided admit card for the exam upon submission of the application form whose scores decides admission.

Faculty

4

The teachers are very much dedicated towards teaching us the very foundation of Ayurveda to us. The way in which they describes us the methods and with the proud that they tell us all these methods are indigenous to us is very much exciting.

Mysore Medical College And Research Institute - [MMCARI], Master of Surgery [MS] (General Surgery)
Reviewed on Nov 21, 2021(Enrolled 2018)

Course Curriculum Overview:

MS General Surgery in MMC was supposed to be the best in Karnataka. But overall, it's not comparable to any top colleges of India. Pros : 1. High OPD patient load. Variety of cases seen. 2. Inpatient load is also good. From 50 to 100 cases on an average per week in any unit. 3. Good OT setup and availability of Laparoscopy. 4. Due to PGs in almost all departments, any emergency was attended to faster and was available for on-call consultation. 5. PGs can attend Regular CMEs conducted in and around Mysore. Cons : 1. Academics is decent at best. Regular classes were canceled for almost the entire 2 yrs. 2. No Regular tests or term exams were conducted nor was there any special interest in research. 4. Surgical hands-on training is given only in the last part of the final year if senior staff allow it. 5. No Laparoscopic training was given. Only handling of instruments is learned. 6. Infrastructure and facilities are limited. 7. Thesis and Exam preparation only in the last 3 to 4 months.

Remarks:

All in all, given the current medical scenario it is a good college for Orthopaedics. If you do not get any well known government hospital, I would rather you take this over a state private hospital as they raise a score of problems later on especially with regards to the fees. The academic part is amazing so even though the patient inflow is slightly less it doesn't hurt as much as you are exposed to every kind of case and surgery in the stream which doesn't happen in government hospitals.
