IIIT Hyderabad Review

Positive: Amazing Location, Great Coding Culture, Great Research Culture Negative: Sports facilities could be better. We do have tennis courts, basketball courts, badminton courts, cricket pitch. But we want a football court with a lawn, a swimming pool and a better gym.

The academic structure is way more hectic as compared to other colleges in India. We have a strong research focus with students joining a research lab at the end of their fourth semester. The exams are not too difficult provided you have paid attention to the lectures.

The college placement cell in itself is not that great. However, companies are interested in us and a wide range of companies visit us for internships including Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Tower Research, Goldman Sachs, and many more. The stipend ranges from 60, 000 to 100, 000 rupees for a summer intern for a month.

In our university we celebrate a lots of mela - poush mela, dol (holi), aanand mela, magh mela, shilpostsav, language day, annual function, nav varstostva, prayers at glass temple, Christmas, sarswati puja, durga puja etc

Moderately expensive. Rs. 1, 25, 000 for a semester. Tuition Fees include everything. About Rs. 13, 000 for the hostel fees. And about Rs. 4, 000 for the messes. There are some minor charges for water and electricity in addition to this.

We have State Bank of India scholar loans. I have personally not availed any loans. The college alumnus also has a fund which provides full need-based scholarship to students with the understanding that the student will pay it forward.

Gender ratio is heavily skewed. Male : Female being 6 : 1 for our batch. The community is open and tolerant and there is no discrimination based on religion, gender, race, sexual orientation, political outlook, etc. People are extremely liberal and open minded. There are occasional parties, various workshops and cultural programmes throughout the year.

We are living in hostel.our room is three seater hence we are Paying 18000/- per annum. There is various types of rooms are present on the basis of no. Of persons who are sharing rooms. Pg are also available but they are little costly.

The alumni are great and in top places. We are a much young institute compared to the old IITs but have a achieved a great deal in our 22 year lifespan. I spoke to an alumni recently who is currently pursuing his PhD in EPFL and has his own startup. He made me interested in reinforcement learning.

I applied through the institute's own entrance examination, which is called UGEE mode at present. After which, I had to appear for an interview. I wanted to study Computer Science and was interested in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. IIIT Hyderabad is the best in India in these departments and thus, I decided to join.

Most of the faculty is really good and well qualified with PhDs from the best places in the world. Each faculty member is associated with one or in some cases two courses in one semester. Though, we've had issues following some profeesors' teaching methods, overall, the learning experience is really good.
