Course Curriculum Overview

The course is 2 years long, with 4 semesters. The course focus on the basic and contemporary fields/topics of chemistry. the course focuses on subject like bio-inorganic, bio-organic, material, nanomaterial, organometallic, polymer, solid-state, adsorption etc.

Placement Experience

The college has a placement and training unit which invites the companies and provides trainings to the students. The minimum salary offered to the students is 1.5 lakhs and further it is based on their merit/performance.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The course fees for M.Sc costs 4720 for the first year and 3920 for the second year. This makes it a total expenditure of 8640 for the whole 2 year degree. It is very pocket friendly and affordable option for a post graduate degree.

Campus Life

The college has computer labs along with domain specific labs for science students for their research and academic purposes. The college also offers sports facilities and competitions for the students to participate in .

Admission

The university requires the candidate to have a bachelors degree in science stream only with an aggregate of 55% from a recognised university. The admission takes place on the basis of the merit scored by the candidate in their UG.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was well-structured, and each semester, there were projects and presentations that also helped to test our knowledge. I got influenced as the curriculum provides us with financial economics, political economics, and Applied mathematics. The level of the exams was decent, related to the course. They could improve in teaching more practical knowledge and projects related to that, instead of only learning in a theoretical way.

Placement Experience:

Placements and job oppurtinities are less since this is an undergraduate college offwering honours degree. Though there is a placement and career councelling cell that looks over this matter. Placements are offered only in a few subjects, such as industrial chemisrty and computer science. The rate of placements are very high and come with high packages. Though I am not interested in placements, but I have started taking preparations for compititive exams. Such preparations are very supported here, rather than jobs and placements.

My thoughts on our beloved Sidho Kanho Birsha University.

The main reason behind choosing the Sidho Kanho Birsha University is to peruse my masters in chemistry from my home university which I am more habitual to. I persued my bachelor's from the same university and my home town is nearby from the university so these are the main reasons for choosing this university. Amoung several universities i applied for I got selection from Vidyasagar University and burdwan university. And because these colleges are away from my home town so I choose my home university over these . Yes I got rejection from the IIT Kharagpur. I didn't make it to there because my mark for the qualification for this university was not upto the mark. My university gives admission to students in behalf of their marks in the bachelor's degree. There is two quota , one is for home students and one is for outside university students. I got the seat in home students category. The cutoff was 82.5% for the admission to chemistry masters program in our university....Read More
