Entrance Preview

No entrance exam. Selection is through Maharashtra engineering seat allocation process. There are various rounds and seats are allocated based on one's marks in 12th board.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

I was in Mechanical branch. As per University there are various electives one can chose in final year. But only few were available in this college. The professors teaching electives had no practical or good theoretical knowledge of those electives. Electives were like Robotics, Refrigeration and Air conditioning, Advanced IC engine. Subjects were not upto date with current industrial requirement.

Internships Opportunities

College never used to organise internship. The relations with industry and companies did not exist. Also there was no connection with alumni to enhance this prospect.

Placement Experience

1.5

No companies used to come in KITS campus. Students were sent to other colleges in Nagpur for participating in placements organised by other colleges. Few students got selected but never got their offer letters.

College Events

3

College used to oraganise many cultural programs and it was a member of various organisations at national level. From this point of view it was a good place, but still it was not so active.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure was feasible considering the average fee in other colleges in Nagpur. Yearly it was around INR 40000 and hostel fee was around INR 8000.There we many other indirect expenses for example expenses incurred for assignments. Expenses incurred for practical exams, projects etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

There were many scholarship programs. I never availed any of those. But it was helpful for many students who could not afford financially. It was a great help to those deserving students.

Campus Life

4

There were many sports and extra curricular activities. It was a good environment for active students.Gender ratio was not equal. And there were many restrictions on females. Students used to organize a college festival Teknodeon which was really good.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is not so good. It needs to be improved. Alumni were not so active for visiting college and guiding students. College needed to have a good network to bring up college reputation and campus placements.

Exam Structure

Lot of exams and lab activities. It used to be a hectic schedule. In practical exam there used to be some professor for viva. He would even be some pass out student of college and would ask all kind of irrelevant questions. At times would even ask for topics that were never in subject course.

Faculty

1.5

Inexperienced faculty. Most were just college pass outs with no industrial experience. Professors were M.Tech but had no in depth knowledge of their subjects. They use to teach from their notes and would teach only from exam point of view. At times they used to get confused from their own notes and keep staring at board for many minutes.Practicals in labs were not also done in good way.

Placement Experience:

In my college students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester and every year many companies come for hiring. Recently companies like TCS Accenture Cognizant Hitachi JSW Group Philips Axis Bank and some startups also visited so we get both IT and core chances. As per the latest data the highest package was around 24 LPA and the average stays around 6 to 6.5 LPA for most students and the lowest offers start from 3.5 LPA so it depends a lot on the role and company. Many students get placed but it mostly depends on skills performance and branch so it is not guaranteed for everyone. I feel the college gives decent chances but we also have to do our own preparation because competition is high. If I dont get placement from campus then I will try off campus also because there are many openings outside specially in IT. Overall placements are good for this level college and since companies keep coming for drives students who prepare properly usually get at least one offer.

Placement Experience:

If one wants direct placements in comapnies such as Wipro, Cognizant, Hexaware, TCS and many more, SIT is the place. Highest is still unbeatable as one student in 2023 got a paycheck of 50 lakhs per annum from SIT. Even the average is over 10 lakhs now as most students are placed through SIT placements cell.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is also good and it is explained in detail on the college's website and there are labs for the courses which made learning fast and easy. Relevance(industry alignment)->8/10 The curriculum is designed to keep up with the industry needs especially in fast growing fields like computer science, management, design and pharmacy. Updated course such as AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, data science and 3D printing are included for tech students. Industry exposure depends on the students initiative it's not equally strong in every department. Comprehensiveness-> 7.5/10 First year courses focus on building strong basics in science, mathematics and communication skills. Later semesters introduce specialisation, electives, research projectsand soft skill training. The curriculum also includes personality development, entrepreneurship and innovation modules. A few departments could integrate new technologies fatser into the syllabus. Practical v/s theoretical balance: Labs, workshops and real world projects are a core part of the structure, especially in engineering, design, and science programs. CIA like case studies, presentations, and assignments encourage hands on learning. However, in some programs, there is a still heavier focus on the theory, so students must actively seek extra learning resources
