Remarks
Decent overall, the education is highly subsidised which is a big plus, learning wise it's not that good, however hostel Life is a big teacher as well as peer learning.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure is standard, less practical. Faculty is ok, more peer learning and self learning here. The course content is very old. Exams are help in 3 slots, 2 interval accessment tests and one final exam, post which a practical exam is conducted, overall it's more of rote learning then applying your mind, students just running after marks, completing files and getting a degree rather than understanding stuff.
Placement Experience
Internship format has started Now around 5 years back, placement are mostly mass IT recruiters like Infosys, tech Mahindra, TCS, due to this will rate the placements as average.
College Events
Happenings which is all Goa cultural event, inter branch event called Tandav and then each branch has their separate event. The college doesn't support much in these activities, all are student driven thourough the annual committee. The events happen in each sem as per the annual schedule, happenings is a thouree day event, one of the oldest in Goa and very popular.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It was very affordable around 10 years back, we paid around 8k per semester or 16k for a year. Now the fee has gone upto 30k per sem or 60k a year. Still it is way cheaper than other engineering colleges, mainly due to it being a govt college. Hostel fees were very good, we paid 800 rs per semester. Students also got tuition fee waiver based on the ranking and also fee discount if you b longer to economically weaker section or OBC, SC, ST.
Fees and Financial Aid
I got economically backward tuition fee waiver of 50%, where I had to prodduce income certificate of my parents every year. Bank education loan was taken, students also opted for metric scholarships as per eligible criteria.
Campus Life
Gender ratio will be 2:1 overall for boys and girls respectively, other activities wise the college had gym, cricket pitch a large ground called the infinity ground, 1 badminton court, table tennis carrom. A nice canteen space. The campus is spread across more than 50 acres.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, rooms were clean, toilets were dirty, maintenance was very bad. Fees were 1600 for a year. Mess facility, internet and parking. There was option for single as well as sharing rooms. Mess food was affordable, cooler and water purifier in each hostel.
Alumni/Alumna
Since the college is more than 50 years old the alumni network is huge but very uNo,rganised, generally all the alumni are very helpful.
Admission
You have to clear 12th with atleast 50% marks to be eligible for the state entrance test called the GCET and after that get ranked in the merit list, post that there is a counselling round for the seats available. The ranking is based on your score in physics, maths and any one optional subject like chemistry or biology. There are multiple rounds which happen, the college starts around July.
Faculty
Each course had around 15-20 faculty members, the average age would be 45, however lot of freshers were also recruited to teach some subjects, the faculty is substandard, with some of them not having any industry experience or even basic research experience. Which reflects in the quality of the faculty, around 20-25% will be good. Overall No, industry expertise or research to back.
