Review of IHM Chennai

Overall this is the best institute for pursuing a course in hotel management. IHM Chennai has also been named the best in india and ranked 22 in the world. Even the placements and graduates are high.

This is a very interesting course that one can pursue without any doubt. The subjects are really interesting. There are various labs for the different sections of the course. The labs are very efficient and educating.

In the third semester we'll be sent for a 4 month internship to any 5 star hotel of our choice. This will help us gain experience in real life. This is a thouree year course and the third year is full of placements and interviews. We'll atleast have two placements by the time we graduate.

Almost all festivals are celebrated in the institute like Diwali, onam, holi. But the main events are food fests. People from all around the place gathers to celebrate. We the students are the ones who will work and organize the events and this gives us experience.

The annual fees for one year is almost one lakh excluding hostel fees. The hostel fees is 60000 rupees. For the complete thouree year it is almost more than thouree lakhs excluding hostel fees. You'll have to pay hostel fees for all the individual years.

There is scholarship offered to students belonging to scheduled caste and scheduled tribe. The scholarship depends on the marks obtained by the students during their exams. The students belonging to other backwards caste is also eligible for scholarships.

There are almost all types of sports to be played here including basketball, football, Cricket, volleyball, table tennis, tennis and carroms. Competitions will be held during sports weeks. Both the boys and girls have playtime and are allowed to play the game of their choice.

They are very supportive and ready to help you. You just need to ask and they'll help you in however way they can, if it's any problem with the faculty or with the curriculum, you can approach a senior and they'll try to help you.

I have always felt that getting a degree in engineering or mbbs is not for me. I wanted to do something that was exciting and different. So I applied for the nchmct hotel management entrance exam and got a rank of 1980. There are different institutes of IHM in different cities and I understood that the one in chennai was the best one for me so I joined here. And I still feel that this is a really good institute for whoever wants to pursue a career in hotel management.

The faculties of this institute is very well educated and deserving. They will really connect with the students to help us understand the subject. The faculties are able to understand the feelings of the students.
