Remarks

Overall the college is very good. In the session 2014-2015 the college was given the autonomous status. According to last NAAC visit this college was awarded with A+ grade. Being a general degree college there is no direct placement of students but teachers and placement cells motivate us for different job options.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Well scheduled regular classes are arranged. Good equipted lab facilities are available. Semester system of exams are held, in between semesters internal exams are held. Basic research is promoted. Faculty members are very much helpful, including lab facilities and professors.

Placement Experience

1.5

Our college need to work with this field. Though several companies like Gillette, Wipro, Jio, Amazon come here for campusing but the selection is limited. Any kind of internship is not provided. Only in the last semester we experienced a project work. But it was not stipened.

College Events

2.5

Annual cultural programme known as 'Anandam' is organized by the students. Active participation of students make this event beautiful. In the three day long programme alumnies and some renowned bands also perticipate. National observation day are observed. Saraswati puja is arrenged with great enthusiasm.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Semester fee is arround 3000. This includes lab fees, library fess, other fee. Which is not that much high compared to the service provided. Form fillup fee is arround 700. Fees are both payble via cash or online mode.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is no such scholarship that I availabled from my college in my graduation.Thugh I know some merit basis scholarship are provided. Yearly convocation are arranged. No study loans are provided. But in future I hope college will be work on that field.

Campus Life

4.5

There is no political parties in our institute, which I think is a good criteria for an educational institute. But there are some drawbacks too. I do not know the exact gender ratio but it seems boys and girls are almost equal in numbers. Students belonging to different communities, caste came here to learn but no intolerance is seen till now.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very much helpful. There is an alumni association in the college. They arrenge several programs, connet with students, help the new generation to grow. Department wise reunion is held after 2-3 years and college reunion is held every year which connects us with the alumni of the college.

Admission

The selection process for admission in the Bsc. level is purely based on merit point. The merit point is calculated as follows (10% of total number of 10+2exam) +(Number of 10+2 in applying subject)

Faculty

3.5

In our time there were 7 permanent teachers in our department. They all are well qualified, holding P.hd. degrees from different prestigious Institute of this country.I can say teaching and assessment quality is very good in this college.

However big scale IT companies come here and students of Computer science Hons have had placements worth 6-10 lakhs easily. My plans are to appear for the job interviews but not taking any as I want to study more.

College does provide internship opportunities both through the placement cell as well as department faculty. Semester 5 and Semester 7 students are eligible for placements. Average package is about 5.5 lakh per annum for microbiology course. Although placement percentage is on the lower side majority of students go for higher studies. Many prepare for exams like GATE, IIT JAM, etc.

college placements are good in this college with a number of good financial and consultancy firms coming in with new gen companies as well in the service and sales industry. moreoever getting a good placement in a top financial or consultancy placement requires a POR in a good society as a criteria, its not really required but adds to your chances of getting it. moreover you require to participate in a number of case study competitions for the same as well. my plans after graduation is probably working for a year or two after which i plan on doing my MBA. around 50-60% who apply get a placement.

In today's competitive job market it becomes important for the college to not just help students get degrees but also provide them with placements and internships so that they can have the experience needed to stand at a competitive footing with the rest of the candidates in the world. To look into this, St. Xavier's College has a Placement Cell run by Placements officer Mr. Niladri Sinha under whose guidance, various companies visit the college regularly looking for capable young minds to take under their wing and help provide them with the necessary exposure and experience so that they can combat any obstacles that they face.
