Remarks

The management is pretty much adequate. They do help us when we go to them. Although from my seniors I have heard a little differently. Relying on my experiences, I feel that they're supportive enough.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

After studying a semester at this college, I could say that the course curriculum and the exam structure were pretty well made. We had four core subjects : Direction and Screenplay Writing, Cinematography, Sound and Editing. Along with non-core subjects like : English Literature and History. These non core subjects changed every semester. I think that that course structure had been planned on such a way that first we learnt what a film was, the history of films and then we started learning the more technical aspects : what is a frame? And our semester end project (which carried the most marks) was to create a photo-story.

Placement Experience

2

We don't have any placements in our college as the film industry isn't a place where you can directly get a job. You have to make your own place with your knowledge (which is impareted to us at the college) and your work ethic (which you, yourself have to develop).

College Events

2.5

Our college takes us to the Pune International Film Festival, every year. Where we get to watch a bunch of international and Indian cinema. It is quite fun and a new experience. Our college even provided provides transportation from the college to the venue. It also holds a film festival of its own, screening films of it's own students. This event was a small part of the university's persona fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is 11,50,000 (including 1,00,000 security deposit). The main mode of payments in the college is bank transfers. But they also accept cheques and bank drafts. You can also transfer your fees using Google Pay's option of bank transfers. The college has divided the fees of 11.5 lakhs into 3 installments, payed over the course of 3 years. It provides complete transparency over the fee structure and these installments include all costs.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers no scholarships but I have opted for a student loan from SBI. The initial process to get a loan requires alot of trips to the bank. I took out a loan for 7.5 lakhs thus it required no collateral security just a guaranteer for your loan. The eligibility criteria for the loan was 60% in your 12th grade and a guarenteer.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life, atleast for my batch is pretty dry. I find my solace in my studies and try to excell in it. The gender ratio is pretty meek I'd say. I'm one of the four girls out of the 25 students in my batch. That doesn't mean that you'll be treated differently, you'll just have to assert yourself a little more and always make your place but I think the latter applies to all film students.

Alumni/Alumna

Our seniors are very helpful, we have learned so much when they asked us to help them with their projects. I remember that being my first experience on an actual film set. They're very friendly and kind to you. They have also created a group wherein one can connect with all our seniors and ex-alumnis for work related activities.

Admission

I was always interested in filmmaking and when I thought of taking it up as a career. I looked for a college that offered a Bachelor's degree in filmmaking, MIT SFT was one of them. After filling up the application form on thier site (inclusive of application fees), I was asked to give an entrance exam divided in 2 parts. It was conducted online and it was fairly easy. After I passed that, I got called for an interview. That was the first time, I got to see the campus and my college building. The interview was gruelling but I managed to answer all the questions posed, confidently. That's how I got into the college.

Faculty

4

In our college, we have a teacher for every core subject that we have. Our faculty has taken up the job of explaining their subjects to a bunch of clueless 18 year olds and they do a damn good job at that. Making sure everyone has understood, even the people sitting in the back. Most of our faculty has a FTII or SRFTII background, even those who don't, have a strong teaching background.Hence, thier explanation of aesthetics + technicalities always gets through to students. They arrange practicals whenever necessary so that we can practice the given excercises that they have assigned to us. Regular masterclasses are also conducted wherein guest faculty with a lot of experience teach us their own specialised subjects.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Parricularly the modules which focused on animal science & botany, the curriculum was built to learn from basics to the advance level towards research area of biology which impressed me alot. The focus on animal biology, statistics, cell biology & genetics, ecology & wildlife conservation, Immunology & biotechnology leads a foundation to successfully enter the real-world and apply this knowledge for better cause of humans as well as animals. As the therotical teaching method can differ from on-hand experience on field there is a need to improve the course curriculum around this issue. The learning period was designed perfectly in-course of the prepaption time between each test and it wasn't difficult if we are well prepared.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
