Remarks
The infrastructure is not very big as it should have been. Also, the first semester schedule is very exhausting for the new comers to the college. The academic curriculum, although extremely good is very heavy on the students as assignments and tests carry on throughout the academic year and there is no particular scheme for that.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is extremely thorough and is updated every 2 or 3 academic years. The schedule that students have to follow is pretty busy in terms of the variety of work one can get involved in on campus ranging from clubs, cells to volunteer work. The exam structure encapsulates a 40 mark internal structure which is subdivided into 2 assignments, 1 unit test and 1 mcq. There is an external written exam for 60 marks per 4 credit course and 30 marks for 2 credit courses. The provision of Labs and other student resource material like online portals is very convenient and we'll organised. Students are kept informed about every update through regular mails from their respective coordinator. A big weightage is given to research with it being made a compulsory assignment for 100 marks for the FY students itself. Students are encouraged and are well supported by their faculty mentors to publish research papers with original and valuable work.
College Events
There are a huge no. Of events celebrated throughout the year. 'Sympulse'-The annual college fest of SCMS, Pune is also one of Indian's Biggest College Level fests, with a footfall reach of 45000+ people every year and an excellent celebrity lineup like - Farhan Akhtar, Kanan Gill, Aayushman Khurana, Kiran Bedi, The Local Train and many more. There are also many smaller level events focusing on dance, drama, sports, E-Summits and interclass cultural competition know as "Cult-Nights" by the students of the college.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee per semester is 1,40,000 INR, which excludes hostel fees and living expenses. This is expensive than usually what is charged at other colleges offering BBA as a course on the UG level. The security deposit is 10,000 INR which is a one time amount to be paid and is reimbursed at the end of the 6th semester.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers scholarships to students who are in the top 5 ranks of their respective batch. There is no such availability for loans though thorough internal affairs. For smaller scale matters, a designated reimbursement is provided to the students if they represent the college in a particular niche.
Campus Life
The extracurricular activities are present in a wide scope in the form of clubs and cells and students are free to choose and apply for the activity of their choice. From enactus to step-up (the dance club), there is a diversity of talent showcase platforms. The cultural societies are managed by the most responsible senior students of the college and the gender ratio is unbiased.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is well maintained and regular meetings for the alumni of respective batches are conducted within the college. The alumnis are also very supportive in terms of monetary helps and volunteer willingly to visit the college as guests and judges of respective events.
Admission
The admission process involves an online aptitude test on the first stage, followed by a writing ability test and a Personal Interview if the first stage is cleared. The Curriculum for BBA present at SCMS is exceptional because: 1.) It offers the cafeteria approach to its students in terms of the electives offered. 2.) The only institute at undergraduate level to offer a dual-specialisation in BBA. 3.) The diversity in cultures is very nurturing as a lot of international students also make up the total number of students in a batch.
Faculty
The faculty is excellent. Many are PhDs in their respective areas. Most of them are very student friendly and young and are up to the standards that one expects when joining a college with such reputation and an expensive fee structure. You can see a passion in most of the faculties for their respective subjects and they thieve to pass it on to their students too. Some faculty are not up to the mark, but with the system of annual appraisals, a consistently is maintained in terms of quality.
